I have been a fan of the Discovery channel for a long time. Lately I’ve become frustrated with it. Not only are they moving programs to their + channel but the amount of commercials has increased on the cable channel. I have sat for up to 7 minutes of commercials at one time. This is ridiculous! I’m starting to change the channel and watching other programs. It’s bad enough that we pay so much for cable but then we have to sit through the increased commercials. Later Discovery!
“Pig Royalty”. Where do I begin? Should I start with the tackiness of the title itself? Should I begin with the trashy Kardashian-style trailer that most of the stock show world has watched and cringed at? Or perhaps the fact that this is absolutely no representation of how a stock show family acts. To say we are all extremely embarrassed and sickened by this would be an understatement. Hence the reason for this comment. We, any family fully involved in raising show stock do not carry ourselves in this manner as portrayed by a family that very few have even heard of. Those who do know them can attest to the drama and embarrassment they create for themselves and which is laughed at behind their backs. Some directly laughed at to their face. Any true blood American stock show family will testify to the fact that we detest drama of any sort, outlandish “look at me” chaos, and everything this trailer portrayed. Most have even stated thus far about even so much as commenting about it because just as much as a minor comment gives this attention. Attention in which none of them want it or them to have. The attention that reflects on all of us in a very horrible light to the rest of the world. Stock show families truly enjoy helping each other. We may all compete against each other but at the end of the day, we are all still friends and family. A true showman could be on his or her way to the ring with their competitor close by, if their competitor’s animal needed so much as a quick sweep with the brush to get that last bit of shavings off you can bet the other child would mention it to help ensure they get just as much as a look from the judge too. Have you ever read the FFA creed? Do you understand that is what we live and breathe by? “Living to Serve, serving to live.” The hours, money, and time that goes into this isn’t what it is all about. What any showman gains from this lifestyle will be carried with them for the rest of their lives. The loss, work ethic, money management, time management, life skills, serving, memories made, etc. There truly isn’t enough room in this comment section to try and defend the rest of the stock show world who completely disagrees with this reality show.
Through thousands of comments and conversations during and after the filming of this, not one person has agreed to how this was produced. Not one person believes this is entertaining. Shame on you for not contacting others prior to filming to be more educated. Shame on you for not reaching out to or filming reputable families and barns. For most of us, this is a lifestyle we as parents grew up in and passed on to our children. It’s not an easy lifestyle some days.
I am extremely upset with Discovery. I see a lot of viewers agree, and that their Discovery channels have been COMPLETELY eliminated. WTH?
Now people have to pay more money on top of cable bills to watch all their favorite shows, mine being Ghost Adventures, Mike Rowe, 90 day fiance and other regular shows i watched all the time? !
Not only that, in order to watch on TV you have to have a specific type of app or company/corporate acct, like Apple or a android setup, which also costs more.
Even if I wanted to pay $$ 7 a month for these shows, I wouldn’t because it won’t stream to a TV . Ridiculous and unacceptable to me personally. You lost a customer.
Who wants to pay to watch shows on a small screen like a mobile device or laptop?
We watch Theater Discovery HD in Mexico. We love your shows but the pronunciation when dubbed is decidedly wrong, specifically the “ñ” sound. It is always changed to an “ni” sound and viceversa and after a while it get either funny or upsetting depending on the mood. It is plainly phonetically wrong and it would be very appreciated if you would amend this issue. It has to be pronunced in spanish:
Matrimonio, and when dubbed your channel pronunces matrimoño
Nieto, and your channel dubbes ñeto
Manteniendo, and your channel dubbes manteñendo
Viniendo, and your channel dubbes manteñendo
Línea, and your channel dubbes liñea, amongst many other words. Maybe im getting old but it makes it hard to watch even thought your channel is amazing.
Spanish is my language and I like it when it is used correctly.

I love the programming on the Science Channel but I am so disappointed with the constant pop ups, advertising for the discovery plus programming and other things. It is very distracting, covers up sections of the show I am trying to watch that at I paid for. It is like having non stop commercials that take away from the programing. Very poor corporate greed on behalf of Science Channel and Discovery Channel. I feel it is a breach of trust for those who paid for this programming.
I have been anxiously waiting for josh Gates to return only to find out he may be canceled, I looked forward to Wednesday because there was always a new adventure, something to learn and laugh. And now that you are charging just like everyone else and in looking at the new line up, I don’t think I will be watching Discovery like before. It’s too bad
Incredibly disappointed that shows I’ve watched for years now I suddenly can’t watch anymore because all the new episodes are on discovery +. I live out in the middle of no where and we do not have the internet for these streaming services so there goes my opportunity to watch them. I hope you will consider at least airing them on tv at a later date so those of us in this kind of situation can continue to enjoy the shows we started watching.
First let me say I watch shows on almost every one of the Discovery family of channels. I am paying for these channels through my cable provider. Now you are taking shows I have watched for years off of the cable channels and trying to make me pay twice for them plus data. With the pandemic and state of the economy it is morally reprehensible to to do this. Watching TV is one of the few things left to do while social distancing and quarantine. And you have millions of people out of work who cannot afford to do this let alone put food on the table and pay for cable and internet. It seems your corporation operates on greed. Why can’t you leave the shows that have been on cable continue to air new episodes over cable. Then any new shows like Mike Rowe’s start airing on line. And air past seasons of the cable shows on line. I am financially at my limit as l am lucky enough to have a job and work from home but I have to pay for a separate phone and data charges to continue to work. I do not get reimbursed. You need to rethink your business plan and policies as there is nothing consumer friendly about them.
I, like many here, am upset that Discovery Plus is getting all the new shows. We pay $375 for internet service, and get throttled back all the time with Hughes.net. It is the only service in my area. There is no way we can stream shows. It isn’t possible, we cannot buy anymore, hughes does not allow it. They oversell all the time.
We pay $150 for DirectV a month. I recently dropped all the premium stations because that bill was $320 a month. I would pay $4.99 but the satellite service are just not available for any streaming service.
I think your decision to eliminate the “best” shows on tv and send them to plus, is a decision that needs to be reconsidered. What about those who have supported you since your inception. There are many of us who do not choose to have a telephone umbilical attached to ourselves. Who do no do social media every minute of the day. It tells me a lot that during this pandemic you are eliminating services to seniors who have been housebound for a year.
Like most corporations they don’t care. It’s all about money. I commented on Facebook and Twitter. No response and got a canned corporate response in email. It’s disappointing and frustrating. Even responding to this chat is purposely made difficult.
Trying to find out which of my shows are on discovery or discovery plus is difficult. I also agree. I am paying dish for this channel and all we are getting is reruns . Discovery is missing some great opportunities to keep current viewers happy. There is a lot of people who don’t have a tv provider who can use the streaming service but you need to remember the viewers who got you where you’re at now
The new Freddy Dodge mine rescue show is awesome. You should ditch the Whitewater part of Gold Rush and replace it with Freddy Dodge. The Whitewater guys never get much gold and they’re really lame.
We are losing our Discovery shows to Discovery+. Pimple popper is just one of them. We already pay $300 a month for Xfinity, why would I pay more for a program that we were already watching and paying for. Unethical at best. I will be contacting every one of your advertisers for every channel in your line up and communicating my thoughts on the Discovery+ raiding of programs from existing channels and your ransom demands from regular cable viewers.
I do not appreciate that i cannot see my favorite shows because the discovery channel wants us to pay for it. How are seniors supposed to manage another bill when we are on fixed income. Isn’t it enough we are Paying huge prices for cable???
I agree about the fixed income, but what about all of the people (like are family) that do NOT have the ability to stream TV shows that we love. Are we to go buy a new TV that will allow us to stream TV shows? Many of the older people our age may not even know how to stream TV even if we have the equipment to do so. I love shows like Expedition Bigfoot and Mountain Monsters so stop the bull S@#t and give us back our new episodes.
Please i beg of you to keep the last alaskan going, i watch all the alaska shows but that is my favorite. I miss everyone on there. Please reconsider it. I keep watching rerun after rerun
I feel Discovery + should not be charging people $4.99 a month especially during a pandemic. Some people have no jobs, no homes and living off the basics. I believe you should give people a break and offer free service. Totally unfair!
OK so Discovery Plus is airing all the new shows that should be premiering on there channels for all those who have always made the Discovery Channels a must when getting their Cable packages. So, where are all the New Shows on Discovery ID? Now it is just mostly reruns since Discovery + started. Many of us do not stream our TV shows so where is the loyalty to all of the faithful cable Discovery ID Subscribers? It’s not right to have new streaming shows and they not be offered to those of us that pay for the Channels. So what? We no longer get new shows to watch as they all go to streaming? I do pay for Discovery ID channel, so why am I not seeing any new shows? I’m upset because I do not have streaming capability and it seems like you want us to pay for the channel and streaming privilege’s! I’m just upset and this is the only way I can express myself. Discovery ID is now showing 90% reruns with no new shows. This is just really bothering me. Also, we are in the midst of a pandemic and this is not the time to be double charging people or charging them at all.

I am furious that Discovery Network is now streaming shows that I already pay for through my cable. That’s just pure greed. I’m sure you rely on the “It’s only $4.99 – What’s the big deal – blind consumerism” crowd. It’s not the money, it’s the principle.
I signed up for the 7 day free trial, (paying for this extra programing, is against my better judgement as the Discovery channel is part of my Dish package). But some of the programing looked good on the commercials so I thought that I would give it a try. I have not been able to install the app on my smart TV. When I went to the chat to speak to a “live” person I was told that I would need to pay $1.00 (with my credit card) to speak to someone! Really Discovery!? If this is what I have to go through, then just cancel my subscription! I can’t watch anything anyway, if I can download it!
Other apps offer the option of not having the next episode start automatically. You usually have to opt in but your app does not offer this option. If you add it, it would greatly improve my experience. Also how come you have lots of shows but not all of the shows seasons? It seems like I am missing out on content I pay for. Otherwise I love your service.
Dear discovery yall have recently made a discovery plus that is live stream only and to live stream you have to have a computer and internet and yall have recently taken travle channel HGTV ect and alot of those show that come on for instance travle channel ghost nation and mountain monsters HGTV home town you can only watch the new episodes thru discovery plus well I pay for your channels thru dish network and I expect to be able to watch the new episodes of my tv show with out haveing to go by a computer and internet and then pay to watch something over internet that I’m already paying a programming company for. Now as for ideas why not leave all new episodes on the cable net works and on the discovery plus so that way you will have double the income. But please put my shows back on cable TV thank you very much. Have a great day not a happy customer.
I watch a lot of discovery shows and channels. I am on a very fixed income, can’t afford computer, a fancy phone and then because of pandemic, you go and make everything on discovery+. It’s almost enough to make me stop watching all of your shows. Not all of us are sitting at home collecting all the extra unemployment. Some of us live on bare minimum, not even poverty level. Poor people like tv too. Thank you so very much.
I do not have a decent streaming service cuz I live in the country. I do not own an iPhone. I have Dish Network. My internet streaming service is ViaSat and we only have so many days that we can do it and then we’ve used up all our internet for the month. All you companies need to get together and if you want to provide this service provide free internet service for everybody so we can buy your app. I would gladly
give up my Dish Network and my internet service that I have to pay on.
I just found out you guys didn’t renew The Last Alaskans. What a fantastic show you all had. It’s a shame. Our family really looked forward to watching. I hope you all had the decency to put it back on. The show wasn’t staged and was done right.
I am writing about the tv show, The Last Alaskans, it is the best show on the discovery channel and the only one I could just set and watch all day long, I was looking forward to watching the show for many more years, but I just found out that y’all have canceled or shelved the show. I’m just writing to say, please put The Last Alaskans back on, me and my family enjoy the show thoroughly, and I can only imagine how a little extra income helped those families survive a little easier up in the north woods.

In the middle of a pandemic you switch good shows that we are already paying for. And are asking for more money. To watch the better version. There are people who can’t afford home or food. Im quite disgusted by this.
I am really sorry that I became a part of this app. I know I get seven days but I signed up for the no ad application. However I found it is impossible to put on my TV using an email and a password. I cannot access a password on my phone however I did have face recognition which I can’t use on the TV and it keeps on telling me that it was invalid or whatever. So if I don’t get this fixed like real soon I am going to cancel this because I’m so irritated that I just have a feeling this is not gonna be any good .
Really Discovery? Taking shows that you normally broadcast and moving them to a pay service? We already pay for Discovery subscription services via our cable service, why would I want to double pay to watch content I’ve already been paying for from DirectTV? Why not just create new content? Guess, we will just cancel our Discovery package with DirecTV.
I don’t do dish network. Pay too much for channels you Should get because they’re local channels but they charge extra for that .stick with cable no dish I love discovery but they need to put real people in real situations that ain’t planned. I remember when they just started off with showing us the real life about animals and now they have a lot of fake stuff

Just wanted to put my two cents in about Discovery Plus and taking over the 90 Day Fiancé spin offs shows. Did you ever stop to think that maybe not everyone has a smart tv or can or want to stream on their computer, phones etc… Also especially charging for it when I personally pay a lot of money with my cable and or satellite and already receive these channels now you expect people to pay extra to watch shows they are already paying for! It is good you are offering streaming services for those who do not have them now but to have shows we have been watching since the beginning to only be able to view the spins offs by paying extra…No thank you I may just stop watching the series altogether at this point. Or anything else on these channels as only to find out if other spins offs of those could be viewed only by paying extra. And again not everyone has the availability to stream or want to use more internet data. Thank you.
