Hi there Can anyone please advise me why is there a problem with the speed of the 8ta dongle.
My dongle lights up with a green light. Before it was blue.
I have tried to contact 8ta but they are not very helpful.
No connection to internet for the full month of April, even though 9 ‘phone calls were made to 8ta customer service, 3 visits to 8ta shop Kenilworth Centre, new SIM inserted into dongle, numerous e-mails sent. This isn’t pathetic service, this is no service even though stop-orders have gone through therefore it is robbery!!!
I bought a promo data package for R149.00 which is the 2gigs daytime and 1 gig nighttime on Friday 26th April 2013, i asked the sales guy to convert the package to data which he did and I got the following sms:

I totally regret changing to 8ta. I would NEVER EVER recommend them to anyone, never mind how cheap the contracts on offer are.
I had problems getting my Ipad. This was resolved and ever since I have had major problems with my account. I am paying way more than was advertised and have recently found out that I am now paying for another customer’s contract as well…….to top it all there is NO WAY TO CONTACT THE STORE where the problem occurred. They do not have an incoming phone line ( TELKOM if they can’t get a phone who can????? ) I have to drive into town every time to query the messes that 8ta are making. Andrew Dove the agent at the store is great…..but why can’t 8ta get their act together. It’s embarrassing !!!

I need to do it again… Can I just buy 8ta mobile airtime to the value of R1800 and load onto my sim (which is now one year old) and then transfer airtime to data and get the go big 60 60 offer activated again?

My Account has been suspended without any notification, I have not been debited for 4 months and now you want to debit the whole amount in one month. I need to know how I was not debited on 25 of every month as per my agreement with 8ta.

I have same problem Pretty. I am going to reverse the transaction now at the bank until 8ta replies to my query. I cancelled the contract in Dec, Jan and Feb and requested to make arrangement to pay the outstanding amount in terms which was R1200 in Dec. I was not using my phone since 23 Nov 2013 as it was stolen. In Jan they suspended another contract which was for my son. Everytime he queries, they say he is not the owner. All phones are suspended but the amount goes high every month. Have chatted with Agent but just dissappear when they can answer, maybe
I HAVE HAD PROBLEM WITH 8TA SINCE THE DAY I GOT THESE CONTRACTS , FIRST THEY BILLED ME FOR 4 PHONES , AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS THIS WAS SORTED, THEY CREDITED MY ACCOUNT, THEN WRONG AMOUNTS DEBIT OFF MY ACCOUNT, THEY STOP MY SERVICE ON CALLING IN THEY ADVISE “A SYSTEM ERROR”.
I am living a nightmare!! The customer care centre is run by a bunch of brainless, uneducated and inefficient morons!!! For 4 months now they were supposed to set up a debit order on my account and for 4 months they say they have done so, and for 4 months, they tell me to make a manual deposit and by the end of the month, the debit order will be in place! For 4 months, they still have not done it and yesterday they cut my phone because I thought everything was in place!! How does a Blue Chip company, allow for this to hapen??? I just HATE them!!!!
I would like to know why 8ta doesn’t debit my account for 3 months, then they want to claim debit orders 6 times in 1 month there after!
hi there i applied for a contract with 8ta ..the next day a agent from the call center called me saying that my contract was approved …i said to her that the lady from the store has not called me yet and i didnt choose my phone yet apparently the lady who signed me up has selected a phone for me ……so she says ……when i called the lady she said that she did not get confirmation that the contract has been approved ….i would like to know where do you guys get your info from and why do they all not correspond …. if i do get billed that would be a big problem !!
i have a contract with 8ta and i have not enjoyed it because of the poor network.. i couldnt connect and i have reported the problem and i requested the contract to be cancelled…
my data account suspended because accounts department did not debit my bank, they are at fault
by not debiting my bank, but yet they are punishing me by suspending my account without any warning or communication.
I understand the frustration completely!! I am having the same nightmare!!! This BEE ‘thing’ just does not work!!!! What a shame, but this is Africa!!!
8ta’s service is pathetic. My contract is suspended on an up to date account. Despite promises from customer care, its now the second month and the matter has not been resolved. I wish i had never taken a contract with 8ta!!!!!!!
8-Ta!!!! Disgusting service!!!! I just wish I could hunt down the Chairman of this horrible company ………..but I guess he/she does not care!! All they care about are the hot pies at Woolworths!!……….what a disgraceful business that holds the public to ransom with their inefficiency and stupidity!!!
I took out a contract for a Galaxy Tab 10.1 in March. It was unsuitable for my purposes and I returned it with an application to terminate my contract within 5 days as I wanted a laptop contract instead. It then took another 21 days before my application was attended to. This included many visits to 8ta in Cresta and endless phone calls to team leaders who all promised to phone back but none ever did. Finally Linda helped me and my contract was cancelled without a penalty. Then in May, my account was debited with R1913.00. As a penalty. I finally got through to an agent who promised me that team leader Melissa would contact me later that afternoon. A week later and I am still waiting!
I am beyond furious.
I just received an sms stating that 8ta deducted an amount of R1,711.39 from my account with no reason. I want to know for what this amount was so I phoned 081 183… I spoke to Isaac – he told me that it was for a contract amount. I told him that is impossible because we expected money to be refunded as per your mail below and after you’ve confirmed again that the money will be refunded… Now 8ta’s deducting from my account once again for some or other reason and not with my permission – which is in my eyes FRAUD!!!!!
I told Isaac that I want my money refunded today which he said was impossible but he will escalate this query as high priority to sort this out. I gave him time until Monday to sort this out because on Monday night I will make a case of fraud against 8ta. He opened the last case again case ref 562813.
Can you please try and sort this out or else I don’t have any other choice to cancel the whole contract without any cost…. due to 8ta’s insufficient and unprofessional and incapable service.

I am highly disappointed with the customer service at 8ta shop Hemingways east london, in december of 2011 I started experiencing problems with 8ta after attending the shop the lady on dutie advised she can not help me I must phone 081 180 to my surprise she would not help me try and sort the problem out. It is know ther 27th of May 2012 and yet again I have just received a sms stating a large amount has been taken off, firstly it is the incorrect amount secondly it is AGAIN the wrong date for the money to come off!!! I want one of your managers to give me a call if I do not hear from anyone by tomorrow I will be going to the consumer bearu to lodge a complaint about your efforts not to help me.
I have spoken to numerous people over the phone stating what I what and when and still they do it the incorrect way!!!Now I was my account credited and the monies put back into my account from 8ta. If this happens again I will have no option but to cancel with 8ta and I promise you will never use your services again!!
RE:COMPLAINT ON OVERCHARGING OF MY INTERNET 5 PROMO LINE
1. I am quite surprised to receive such a heavy bill for my domestic internet 5 promo line 081 569 3951 account number 333820263 for the last two months.
2. I am quite disturbed to see an inflated internet usage bill for the period January to 29 March 2012.
3. I regret to say that you have overcharged me for internet usage particulary in the bill for the month of February and March 2012.
4. I must point out to you that the internet 5 promo states that the contract for monthly internet usage is R199 i.e. 1.9c/mb maximum data bundles per month being 10gigs.
5. I feel there is definitely some mistake in billing such a big amount towards internet 5 promo on my account considering the fact that even if I used up all my data bundle I wont be prompted to surf on the internet again until the next month.
6. I am surprised to receive the electricity bill of R687 for the month ending March 31 2012.
7. It was just not possible for me to have used so much of data bundles to over and above the my monthly data bundle of 10gig given that I use the internet strictly for personal emails and a few downloads occassionally and that there is no option to purchase data outside bundle on my account.
8. If you compare my March 2012 internet 5 promo bill to what is on your website http://www.8ta.com/plans/postpaid-data/i5promo/ you will clearly see the gross mistake your department has made. While on your website I am supposed to be billed R199, the latest invoice from your department reads R678.
9. My internet is strictly used only for personal purposes and that also not for business purposes it is therefore, not possible for us to have used such a huge data bundle that spills over the stipulated 10gig data bundle in just one month as reflected in March 2012 bill.
10. Please rectify the bill so that I may you stick to the terms of my contract which says R199/month.
11. You are, therefore, requested to have the meter checked and send me the amended and corrected bill for payment for the month of April 2012.
12. You may kindly send me a provisional bill, till this dispute is settled.
13. Therefore, please revise this inflated bill and send me a fresh bill for prompt payment.
14. I therefore, request you to check if our internet 5 promo is being misused.
15. Please arrange to make necessary amendments and oblige and also please arrange to make the necessary corrections and adjust the excess amount charged in future bills.

What a bad experience to try and get a problem solved at the 8ta shop in Pretoria East. I previously used Telkom ADSL for my business, and due to cable theft and days off line I decided to switch to 8ta. First of all my debit orders are in a mess! Some months no deductions and then a huge amount that I have to pay – with no invoices received to alert me there is a problem. The way the debit orders are managed is so complexed that I did not know what was paid and what not! After using 8ta for a few months, my emails was suddenly blocked/stopped whatever! I phoned the customer care and they guided me through the settings on my computor – it seemed that my emails was still on the Telkom system. They guided me through the settings and obviously changed my email address. I had to accept this change and knew it would be a great effort to inform all my clients of the same.
Not a day later and my 8ta emails was not working again! I went to the store and took my laptop with,so no mistakes on my side could cause another problem. After waiting 2 hours for the 8ta consultant to change the settings, (which was very inconvenient hanging around the shops till 6.30 that evening!) the guy and 2 others crowded my laptop and I thought this must be quite a challenge for them to simply change my email settings!! The consultant eventually informed me the emails are working and showed that I can send and receive emails, but…. my email address changed again!! When I asked what happened to the emails that was on my computer, he simply informed me that I lost them!!!
To say the least I was very upset, how do I now know what my latest correspondence was with my clients?? I do not print each and everyone, as I could always refer back to previous emails!! On my return home, I started to inform my clients of my new email address, just to be informed my emails was blocked due to unusual activity in my Hotmail account!! But the worst is that the information is sent to my email address – but on someone else’s name!! So I gather this email account does not belong to me???? My questions are: why someone else’s name (Nosiya Mcela)?? Why Hotmail??? Why another email address when I had an 8ta email activated by Customer Care already, making it longer and more difficult for my clients??? Why spend 2 hours in an 8ta shop, with even more problems afterwards?? Where can I go where I can get professional assistance in the shortest possible time??? My time is valuable, and I can not afford to hang around waiting for inexperienced staff to try and assist me – and not succeed in the end!!! I know they tried their best, but it just not good enough!! This is an URGENT matter, as I am losing business due to my emails not working!! Most of my work is done by emails!!

I have subscribed to 8ta +/-5 months ago, and ever since
the first payment was supposed to be deducted on the last
day of the month they always tried to take it before the time.
Leaving me with a bad name with the bank. I am so upset
as I can not afford any legal unfair penalties, now with a
suspended network, which was not my fault, I will most
probably pay the outstanding which they were suposed to
take but failed to. BUT STILL will struggle to get my internet
back. If this service from 8ta is not going to get better and
I don’t get my internet connected again soon…I WILL BE
FORCED to take legal action. As I went to the branch from
Telkom in Irene, they phoned the guys from 8ta from there
and assured me everything will be in order as from the next
month and what a stupid mistake it was believing them. As
the same happened AGAIN… 8ta has sent me an invoice,
with “what looks like a virus” email. When I select it, it searches
it don’t even attempt to open. I want feedback and as soon as
possible my internet back on. As you will receive the full amount
owing to you but you expect me not to have my full internet. It is
not my mistake, I am not the one rendering the service. You
guys need to get your priorities straight. We are paying customers
if you fail to take the money on the set date, WHY should the client
pay for your mistakes?

Hi there I have a very serious matter, My husband took out a phone in November last year and at that time he was working but not permanent only temporary so because of that he was asked for all the details and because he knew that he is not permanent yet he gave all his details but my bank account number. The next day a white lady phoned him back to tell him that there was a bank validation and he needs to give his own bank details and because he worked that time for the past three months he could provide a bank statement of three months to cut a long story short on the 25th of last month 8ta deducted 1450.00 from my salary without my consent.
I emailed my bank statement to letoya on 01.02.2012. He responded to say that he has sent my matter to finance and will get back to me. I faxed the statement to two different people after that to ensure this matter is settled. Went to Bayside mall on 8.2.2012 with my bank statement. The lady assured that they would sort this out. I emailed Letoya again and did not get any response. 9.2.2012 my line was suspended. I phoned ongani on 9.2.2012 after I went to the Bayside shop again and there was no one to assist behind the counter. Bongani took all my details and asked me to hold, aftter 20 minutes I was cut off,. I spoke to Lucky at 14.20 and had to explain the whole story to him again. He took my cell number and promised that his supervisor would contact me. Since then no one has contacted me. I emailed Letoya again and has not received any response. I was advised that a double deduction would be done. This is unfair as you have received my payment and I have made serious attempts to get the proof to the relevant people. What more do you want me to do?
Hi, I had a REALLY bad experience with 8ta, still going on in fact… I’ve been with 8ta since June 2011 and my debit order are suppose to go of one month after the statement period. In November some idiot in their billing department tried to debit my contract a month prior to the date it was supposed to go of, obviously the debit order couldn’t go of. I paid the correct amount into their bank account according to the statement and the problem was solved. NOW! December and January they didn’t even debit to me, and the money was available in the bank and they suspended me again!!! Now I’ve made a huge cash deposit into their bank account to settle ALL my outstanding balances wich they just didn’t take…The deposit was made by myself at ABSA Vereeniging On the 3rd February 2012 13:37. And up to now, 09 February 2012 no credit had been made to my contract, phoning them over and over again, the problem just doesn’t go away, THEY TOOK MY CASH AND IT SEEMS TO ME THEY WON’T CREDIT ME!!!!! Why, because their Call centre supplied my with the wrong ref nr. and they cannot connect the proof of payment, with my ID Faxed to them just after the deposit was made. None was my fault!!!!!!!! I think 8ta must get some new technology, BRAIL FAX services, because either they are blind, or they are sleeping, or they just CANNOT perform their job.
Hi I’m very disappointed in your services. We went in to the store in Welkom to apply for two blackberry contracts. Two weeks after that the lady phoned us and said that we can’t get the contracts because the people at credit control can’t approve it. Then on the 31ste January 2012 we decided to go to the store to see if anything has happened. About ten minutes later the lady told us that the one contract was approved. When we asked about the other one she said that she’ll get back to us because its gona take 3 weeks before we get that one. How can one phone be approved and the other one not??? When we got home and we switched the phone on we got messages from other people. And then we noticed that the minutes on the phone was used. The lady at the 8ta store ported the wrong number to our simcard. Then the next day we went back to get it sorted out. The manager told us it would be sorted out by friday. Today its the 6 Febuary 2012 and the phone is still off. When we phone the 8ta shop they told me to phone the customer care line because they must fix it. And when I called them they told me that the people in the store must fix it! How on earth are you suppose to enjoy the network if you deliver such bad services? We are really disappointed and hope you would be able to fix this problem soon because you won’t get customers and keep then when you deliver this kind of service! Thank you

I recently took out a contract with 8ta. The package was R138.50. I got a statement stating that my bill is R238.00 even after the sim was inactive. Please follow up urgently.
Please I’m agry with one of your call centres that persuaded me to take a contract phone and misled me by saying I’ve won for myself a phone. there is axorbident amount that is deducted out of my salary for this state of affair. will you please verify this and cancel this contract with immediate effect. my number is xx. Also there is saying that says I ve got two (2) contracts of which I do not know that.
