Hi,
I am currently a member at gold’s gym 729, Sector 14 Gurgaon Haryana. The environment is not clean and the staff is not paid by the owner on a regular basis for the past couple of months. Due to this staff keeps leaving and the whole gym is all the time filled with such vibes. As a member of the gym we go there to be fit and relaxed in a good environment but due to the owner not paying salaries the employees are discouraged, frustrated and unhappy. As a global leader in health care industry you should keep check as to how people are taking your franchises and not providing the right services and quality. Please do something about this issue.
Dear Team,
I have enjoyed membership of Golds Gym for around 15months or so now. Been an elite person, I opted for Golds only because of its High standards and goodwill in the market. And for the same reason, I recommended it to many near ones.
However, I would like to draw your attention to several negative features that have crept into Spinning Class over a period of time.
Firstly, the Spinning class was held in morning as well as in evening. However due to unprofessional behaviour of trainer, he use to cancel morning batches multiple times without even informing us. The situation was very obnoxious for many members since we manage our gym and office routine accordingly. Additionally the trainer is very haughty in nature , due to which many members have complained against him. Some of them don’t even turn up for Spinning class stating they don’t like trainers behaviour towards them as he hardly teaches anything and doesn’t even pay attention.
Due to such boor behaviour of trainer, I guess he had even resigned and was serving his notice period.
We were waiting for new trainer to come as Spinning classes were not conducted for some weeks. However, to our obnoxiousness, he was retained due to non-availability of any other trainer and started only with one batch in evening. The class is conducted in 8-9pm and that batch has few members who are with the trainer since 2-3years. Due to the high duration, the trainer have maintained very good repo with those members and have appease settlement with them. He doesn’t like if any new member enters his so called friend-elite group batch ( 8-9pm) and so doesn’t allow any member to do spinning stating that he/she is novice and exacerbate it.
Since a week I am doing Spinning in evening batch. The trainer stated I shan’t be doing it as I don’t know the variations and just do push-ups.
My question is –
I was doing spinning from last 6months in morning batch, why did he allow me to go ahead all this while ??
Even if a agree on his statement that I don’t know variations, isn’t it his job to teach me rather than stopping me to do so.
If according to him, we don’t even know basics, What did he teach in last 6months to morning batch people ?
Is the Trainer efficient enough if he can’t train members in 6months?
Just because of his unilateral decision, he has rights to insult any member in front of entire class?
And Golds gym will not take any actions just because few members wants the same trainer?
I joined your gym and your gym has poor equipment and is also lacking basic facility which being Gold’s should provide
I would like to highlight few points before you :-
1.Gym equipment are outdated and also the treadmill and cross trainer are wrapped with tape
2. Treadmill have dent on them and are broken
3. Mens steam room is not cleaned from time to time
4. the washroom of men don’t have a shower gel and proper lock on doors
5.Aerobics room don’t have ladder and skipping ropes
6. Gym dosent have centralised AIR CONDITIONING and also
7.YOGA mats are torn and stepper are broken
8. Mens changing room is not cleaned properly
9.Drinking water is not of RO
If you want i can also attach the picture of the above mentioned things also i would request you to kindly take an inspection of the gym and see how the name of the GOLD’S is being deteriorated and how people join the gym in name of Gold’s but later have a miserable experience because people come to work on the machine but the machine are only not proper
I hope you will take some action in the matter
Hi, I am a member of Golds Gym, VIP Road KOLKATA, INDIA Branch where i enrolled in Sept.2017 End. But I regret to inform your that this Branch is a complete fraud. 700+ members have registered in this gym just because its one of the Golds franchise. We had paid yearly / 2 years subscription but from the past 2 months management of this gym is being irregular to open and form the last 15 days the gym is completely closed. We have contact Golds Gym Mumbai Head Office also but they are not replying on emails & phone calls. Whenever they receive call they just tell us to wait only. They are not even transferring our membership to another branch in kolkata. They have just terminated this franchise & now nobody is helping us for our refund / restart of GOLD’s Gym. Please take this matter very seriously & act immediately or else we (all the members) will be forced to rake legal action against Gold’s Brand for supporting this VIP ROAD KOLKATA Branch’s Fraud.
I am a member of Golds Gym Sector 30 Noida. Just for your information the steam room has not been functional for about 7 weeks now (with the exception of 2 days)! It was broken before the routine maintenance on the first Thurs of the month in Jan; and has still not been fixed as of 18 Feb. We’ve been given a variety of excuses as to why the Gym has been unsuccessful in getting the steam room working. From engineer on leave, to its being fixed, to will be done by tomorrow, or was fixed, but broke again; we’ve heard it all! I am not expecting you or the upper management to elaborate on WHY the steam room has not been able to function for this long. As members of your gym we’re not interested in learning more about the engineering of the machinery or the science behind its workings or repairs. The only issues that I’d like for you or someone in-charge to respond in writing are the following:
1) How does Golds Gym India resolve the issue that they have NOT been successful in providing services they claimed they would as part of the membership? And;
2) How is Golds Gym India considering, it at all, to make up for the inconvenience this has caused their clients.
I can elaborate on my case; after considering several gyms I settled for Gould due to its proximity to my place of residence; and availability of steam room, which my physician had recommended I use for my sinuses in the winter months. I joined on Dec 25; and the steam room has not been working since the first week in January. Clearly I have not been able to avail this service that in large part factored in my decision in choosing your gym.
While my situation is unique but my experiences at your facility are hardly so. I have heard many a disgruntle comments in the locker room including talk of starting a petition to get the upper administration to pay some attention on the matters of maintenance of the gym.
At this time I am beyond being bothered about the steam room, but perhaps the time is right to also share with you my experiences with your facility in general in last 6-7 weeks I have used it.
1) For starters I am enrolled as a “senior citizen” member for unclear reasons; my identify and documents defy such categorization.
2) I was told that I would be given a Golds bag for signing up with goodies that never arrived.
3) Many aerobics and other such classes would be made available to me free of charge, if they are offered; no information on them is made in the common areas.
4) No personal chart was made for me; the BMI that was conducted on me was erroneous as the paper/rickety height-scale in the reception area was inefficient in taking accurate measurements.
5) Staff is friendly and the personal trainers appear competent and dedicated to their paying clients. The floor trainers are nice but often distracted. More than often they appear to be sitting at the reception chatting or on the computer; other times they are stationed at a not-in-use machine or staring at their cellphones. They recommend you sign up for a PT or tend to focus excessively on clients they seem to have more interest in.
6) Regarding the gym boys; again they’re nice but perhaps their roles are not clearly defined. They end up staring at the work area during my hours of use. In the men’s locker room they often showers before the closing crowd gets in. They also start using the gym area for workout around 9:30 during weekdays and earlier during the weekends when the gym is not so busy. I am happy that your company is making these services available to them, but I would think their timings of use would not overlap with that of members’. Many days they start cleaning up the gym and the locker room before the time of closure at 10pm. This is sometimes distracting (and not safe) to those trying to complete their routine. A member recently slipped on (wet) mopped floor, and hurt his wrist.
7) The locker room starts shutting down at the same time as the gym, i.e. at 10pm, which makes it very inconvenient to use especially if you’re busy with the workout until 10pm. In fact the steam room when it worked would shut down at 9:40/45 limiting its use if you want to maximize your workout time. In all the gyms that I have been associated with the locker room services remain fully available at least half hour past the work-out area closes.
8) In terms of maintenance the men’s locker room can do with some serious attention: a) urinals don’t have flush so you can imagine the stench; b) the shower dividers are patched-up with duct tape to ensure privacy; c) the towels are moist and not available at times; d) dripping ceiling in the steam room and the portion outside it; e) soap dispensers routinely out of soap; sometimes toilet paper is missing; f) hot water routinely unavailable as the system appears below capacity or not run properly; g) lockers missing handles; and hinges. In fact recently I saw a member (the same person who hurt his wrist on the wet floor) pull out one locker door out of frustration, saying that he’s brought this to the attention of the management several times, but nothing has been done, so he can’t risk another injury!
9) Machines; on an average 2-3 treadmills are dysfunctional at any given time. And many are not connected to the back-up power that poses accident risks when power fails. All the cardio machines are rather tightly packed, which is due to the space constrains but the lack of good ventilation creates unhygienic interior environment not to mention the stuffiness and overwhelming smell of sweat. Some ACs are purposely not used or switched off ahead of the closure creating additional stuffiness. The weight area is tight but appears alright.
I have brought many of these concerns with the gym management on several occasions and their standard response has been that one, they’ll look into it or not aware of the problem. Also we hear regularly that, ‘a new facility in the same building is being created which would be spanking!’; the subtext being that meanwhile the upkeep of this facility is not our priority or on our agenda and you’ll just have to deal with the decay.
In my case the lack of professionalism of the staff was evident from the get go; my yearly membership check was lost by them or the bank; it took me a couple of hours to stop by my bank to request they not honor a check with that number; I was charged 100-odd Rs for that service. I told the staff about the charge as I reissued a new check, but not once was I told that Golds Gym India would be happy to foot the bill for the check cancellation service. It’s a small amount, but goes a long way in demonstrating commitment to your members.
I have lived in the States for several years; in fact I am here on a sabbatical. I am familiar with the quality of Golds Gym in the US and I am afraid judging from your Sector 30, Noida gym it does not come close to the same quality and levels of customer service.
PS: I have been trying to reach the upper management through various channels including the customer care contact, but have not received any word in the last two weeks!
I am a member of Gold’s Gym Mysore branch were I took my membership in May 2014. I was going to Talwarkar’s before. I liked Gold’s for it’s cleanliness & equipment’s. All was going well but now all the tread mills only one out of eight is use sable the rest have maintenance problem you take last Saturday as a maintenance day for the gym but I douth that any thing would be done on that day I have been complaining to the manager their which is only making false promises. I want to reduce weight so I mainly use only tread mill & elliptical machine that also out of four only two are in condition from the past two months.
I am sorry to say that you are less interested in the maintenance & more interested only in making new admission were new members ask us for our opinion before taking the admission & I don’t want to lie. Pl z I request you to change all the treadmills in the gym to keep your standard to which Gold’s promises us.
Having been a member of Fitness First Gurgaon, I did not join any gym or health club when I shifted to Panchkula 2 years ago as there was no international chain that had its centre in Panchkula. When Gold Gym opened in Sec 16 Panchkula, I was very happy to find a famous international chain of fitness centre and promptly me and my wife took couple membership on 29th July 2013. Our membership became effective from September 2013.
However, my joy was very short lived. Yes, they have latest and new machines but that is all they have. The instructors seemed to have been picked up from local gyms. My wife has L4-L5 disc prolapsed. though she informed the instructor of the same, in the introductory session itself he made her do the workout involving forward bends, which are strictly prohibited for someone who has a chronic back problem. Fortunately for her, since she has been working out regularly with Fitness First, she didn’t follow the Gold Gym’s instructor and saved herself from any major Injury. Yet enough damage was done and she hasn’t been able to recuperate fully and visit Gold Gym ever since.
Initially I also suspended my membership for 45 days as my wife’s setback proved to be a deterrent for me also. However, I wanted to give it a sincere try so I started going again from December.
Apart from the bad trainers, the lack of other basic amenities has been appalling me. In the peak winters there is no hot water available for shower. The music quality is more suited to a local gym rather than an international chain. The SPA is mostly out of order. Every day some member or the other is complaining of these things but nobody is willing to listen.
I wonder if this is the level of Gold’s Gym worldwide or this is a problem specific to this centre in Panchkula Sec 16. Either way it’s been a horrible experience.
I am your rohini branch member in delhi. Most of the time the treadmill ndoes not work. In addition, the fitness trainers are very lazy and refuse to help.
