About Turk Telekom
Turk Telekom or Türk Telekomünikasyon AS is a Turkish telecommunication company founded in 1995. Previously owned by the state under the PTT (Turkish Post) banner, Turk Telekom separated from the Turkish Post back in 1995. The group is today one of the largest in Turkey, with 16.8 million PSTN customers, 12.1 million GSM customers and 6 million ADSL customers. The network substructure of the company covers the entire country, contributing to an ever-increasing customer base. Turk Telekom offers its services to millions of personal and corporate customers. The company owns 99.9% per cent shares of Argela, TTNET, Sebit A.S., AssisTT, and Innova. It also owns 81% of Avea, one of the three GSM operators in the country. Turk Telekom started the GSM services for its subscribers in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir in 1994. This was before the separation of the telecommunication and postal services in 1995.
