TashiCell is a privately operated mobile operator in Bhutan, that began operations in the year 2008. The company’s mobile prepaid, postpaid and Internet services are deployed on the GSM WCDMA/HSPA+ technologies. Currently, there are more than 271,000 subscribers across the country. In 2015, it became the first telecom operator to have achieved nationwide 3G coverage. A year later, it also started scaling up infrastructure, adding 4G to western regions. The company operates from its headquarters at Thimphu.
