About Tally Solutions

Tally Solutions is a multinational company that develops and markets software products for business management. The company, headquartered in Bengaluru, was first founded as Peutronics by Shyam Sunder Goenka and Bharat Goenka, a father-son duo, back in 1986. Before starting Peutronics, Sunder was running another company, which was a supplier for machine parts and raw materials to textile mills. He struggled to manage his financial accounts and sought help from his son, Bharat Goenka, a Math graduate. They created an accounting software on MS-DOS, with basic accounting functions. The software was named Peutronics Financial Accountant. The name of the company was changed to Tally Solutions in 1999. While Tally 8.1 hit the markets in 2006, it was later followed by Tally 9 and Tally.ERP 9. The company also launched Vriddhi, a certification and classification program for business partners. It reached the mark of one million customers in 2016.

When GST was introduced to Indian market, Tally was shortlisted by the government as a GST Suvidha Provider. The company was given the responsibility to provide a smooth interface between taxpayers and the Goods and Services Tax (GST). In 2017, Tally Solutions launched its software in alliance with GST.
