About Playmobil

Playmobil is a popular line of children’s toys owned by Brandstätter Group, a German business conglomerate that also owns Hob Electronics Ltd, Hob GmbH, Hob Components Ltd, among others. Headquartered at Zirndorf, the company designs and retails human figure toys, accessories, vehicle toys, animal toys, and building models. The company’s signature toy is a 3 inch (7.5 cm) human figure toy with a particular smiling face. All the Playmobil toys are created in themed series of individuals figures and playsets. The company frequently updates its catalog with new products, raising the excitement and the level of competition.

The Playmobil toy line was created by German inventor, Hans Beck in 1974. Beck was a trained cabinetmaker and an avid hobbyist, who initially pitched an idea of model airplanes to Geobra Brandstäter. The owner of the company, Horst Brandstäter, asked Hans Beck to make children toys instead. Playmobil recorded global net sales worth US$ 19.6 million for the year 2019. The toy collection from Playmobil won four accolades at the Dadsnet Awards, held in 2019. The winners included 9487 Mars Space Station, 70075 Playmobil: The Movie Del’s Food Truck, 9275 Tiny Paws Pet Hotel, and 9420 Summer Villa.

Currently, Playmobil makes toys for children aged four to twelve. The company believes that older children do not prefer the kind of toys that it manufacturers in its domain. Many of the initial Playmobil sets were themed around construction workers, native Americans and knights. Playmobil hands, particularly, were designed to hold and grip objects. All of the early figures had one piece of arms, and all of them were able to rotate the wrists.

For the uninitiated, the Playmobil toys were unnamed, allowing children to name their favourite toy as per their liking. Some exceptions include Hype, Laura, Alex, which are known as the protagonists for the respective games. All of these three Playmobil characters belong to the video games, which were produced by Ubi Soft Montreal, between the years 1998 and 1999. A number of Playmobil sets require assembly, and the sets come with a detailed instruction sheet explaining how to do it. Playmobil has licensed many companies for the distribution of their toys, across the world. For example, in Argentina, Playmobil has licensed Antex for distribution in all the South American markets.
