I think hobby little lobby is one of the best craft store suppliers in my area. I shop there often. Today I was absolutely appalled at finding guns as Christmas ornaments when I went there choose ornaments for my grandchildren. Who makes these ridiculous choices for merchandise.
Hobby Lobby is one of the slowest stores to check out and they don’t seem to care.
I have been in many other stores where there are long lines and as soon as a manager or personnel on duty sees lines backing up-they jump on a register and help get the lines down. At Hobby Lobby, you can literally stand in line while you watch two and three employees (standing by a register) talk and do anything but help the other cashier(s).
There is no reason – unless Hobby Lobby has a store policy—“let the people stand in line”—that anyone of of those ladies could have jumped on to help. No. They rather have us just stand and wait. It is one reason that I don’t shop here more. I need to know that I can not be in any hurry – if I do.
I wanted to say I was very impressed by Laura at the Fayetteville ny Hobby Lobby! She was cutting fabric for me and was extremely helpful! Then she went out of her way to help me because the store is understaffed (which I didn’t know until I spoke to the manager to give her a good review) and there was no one else around so she led me the whole way across the store to find little eyelet screws for my jewelry. I would have not known which screws would work otherwise. On top of that, she helped my son look at sports cards that were locked up in a case. I felt awful because he didn’t even end up getting any packs! It really meant the world that she took time to help us. I could tell she was really busy. It really, really meant a lot.
I am so frustrated with Hobby Lobby in Topeka Ks. I stood in line for probably 7-8 minutes , not a long time but still. Just to find out from the cashier that “she couldn’t do exchanges” although she is standing at the exchange register. She points me to the other side which is doing both checkout and returns and the line literally is backed up into the knick knacks on display. There is a “management” person just standing next to the backed up cashier, I ask are you doing exchanges..”no she is”. Well you got $3.99 from me but it’s the last. I don’t very often complain but all I wanted was to exchange the stupid cards I picked up accidentally instead of envelopes. Customer care at this store is lacking and has been long before pandemic. Move your sign and do better.
I would like you to know what a wonderful employee you have in Meredith V who works in the frame department at your Seabrook, NH store. She was kind and personable while being professional and ever so helpful. I was quite pleased with her excellent work as well as her expert advice. She is an asset to your company.
First I wanted to say how much I love Hobby Lobby; with that being said, how outdated Hobby Lobby technology is really ridiculous and completely uncalled for. The amount of money I know this company is worth i know you this company can afford to upgrade your systems to be able to scan your items. This will help your company in so many ways.
1) Time/ Turn around time (for your customers)
2) Organization
3) Stock/inventory
I was in one of your stores on Friday 1/21.22 and they were doing inventory manually which is stupid and you had a store full of people who needed help and no one would help them because they were doing inventory which of course infuriated your customers. One if you had scanners that inventory would have gone a lot quicker, but also that needs to be done after hours.
Also, you send out emails with coupons and now your stores do not honor them. The cashier tells us we no longer allow to honor coupons they are sent by hobby lobby or that is on the app. I confirmed with her that i was in hobby lobby she told me yes, she stated as of 2022 Hobby Lobby no longer honors those coupons, well if you don’t honor them, stop sending them.
There is a lot of things that are happening that is going to cause some confusion and potential a lot customer complaint so you might want to fix them before it gets out of hand.
Last minute Christmas shopping at Hobby Lobby and had a lot on my children’s and nieces list to buy. The store manager comes around the corner and says before even saying who she was and says “All right that’s it! Your shopping is done and your asked to leave.” I’m confused and I asked who she was and she just says “either buy this now and I walk with you and then you leave” and then asked what I did wrong I’m Christmas shopping. She says “and your shopping is done”. When I asked who the owner of the store was she said her name and pointing at herself. I then was surrounded by three more people. And I asked to see the stores policy and she told me to look it up on line. So I wasn’t going to have the lady also get my bank info and card info after how aggressive she was being. So I said well then you lost a buyer. As I walked away they made fun of me saying ” wow look at all of this she can afford all of this”. Should I even go into detail what all I had. I didn’t even come in with my purse or even a way to steal so that’s out of the question. Not a clue and don’t really care but them asking me and no one else tells me that they were judging me and I feel discrimination is all over their business. Still never got any info on who I could speak with that gave her the okay to say I had to leave only the store owner can do that. Right? Unless it states in the store policy.
I was just at the Hobby Lobby in Rockford IL and was very unhappy with the purchases I “almost “made . There was a sign that was only by packs of picture frames that said frames were 50% off . When I went to the register the cashier rang them up at full price so I asked weren’t they 50% off . She said no , it didn’t include them and she was sure of it because she was in management. I asked which ones it included because they were the only ones within a 6 foot range and 4 shelves down . I went back and took pictures and she still said they weren’t included. I shop at different Hobby Lobby’s quite frequently but as deceptive as this was I think I’m going to be changing stores. Wonder how many people are deceived by the sign and don’t notice they’re being charged full price ?
I had a very bad customer service experience at the Hobby Lobby in Dublin, CA on Amador Plaza Road a few minutes ago. I purchased a bunch of arts and crafts items on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021. I was charged for 7 acrylic paints. When I went to get them from the bag and use them today, I realized I only received 6 acrylic paints. I went back today to the Hobby Lobby I purchased the items from. I went to the exchange/refund line 2, the same line I purchased them in and was helped by a cashier named Lisa. I informed her that I was there on Thursday evening, that I purchased 7 paints and only received 6, and gave her the receipt. She called over a lady named Cindy who said they would have to look at the video tape to make sure. I was fine with that. Cindy went and talked to a guy name Brandon who walked over to me and said “Cindy said this happened yesterday (Friday)?” I told him it happened Thursday, and he replied to me with an attitude “Whatever day it was. I will have to look at the camera to make sure this happened”, and he walked away. He came back about 5 minutes after and said he did not see it on camera, gave me my receipt back and walked away. I wind up buying the paint that I did not receive, plus some extra things and left.
HOBBY LOBBY (POTOMAC MILLS, WOODBRIDGE, VA)
Employees Tanya, Chenetta, Caroyln, Mary (Papercraft) provide excellent customer service. They always greet and/or talk to their customers. One of the store manager “he doesn’t open his mouth to greet customers and/or smile”! This is one the managers during the day. The store is always neat w/update merchandise.
It is great to walk in a store to hear someone greeting customers as they enter and depart! GREAT JOB EMPLOYEES!!!
I am very disappointed in Christmas gift wrapping selection this year, the one truly religious themed Christmas gift wrapping paper is, frankly ugly and understated. Last year the one roll of religious Christmas paper was very pretty. For an advertised faith grounded store you should put more of effort and selection in religious Christmas gift wrapping paper, after all his birth is what is being celebrated. I hope you make improvements before next year.
Just want to give a shout out to Jason in the Framing Department in the Aiken SC store. They always do a wonderful job, but today, Jason went way above and beyond! Thank you!
At the Hobby Lobby in White Lake Mi. I had a very bad customer experience. The lines were long and the Manager opened up another lane and directed me there. The cashier, T_8652 Tammy P , was fuming when she opened her register. I asked her where the readout was for prices and she pointed to the computer screen in front of her. I told her I couldn’t read it and would she please call out the prices so I didn’t get over charged. She screamed, ” I can’t hear you because of your mask.” She wasn’t wearing one and most of the other cashiers were not. She stuck her head around the partition and sceamed the same words again. As she turned back to the register she hit the plexiglass petition hard with her hand. She shouted something else. I was too busy putting my hands up to be protect myself from being hit in the face. She rang up my order and shoved it so hard across the counter it would have landed on the floor if I hadn’t caught it. I’m in my 70’s so I’m Lucky I did. What made it worse was the “Supervisor” was watching from 6 feet away and not doing anything. Won’t be shopping at Hobby Lobby anymore.
On Nov. 6th I shopped at the store in Mays Landing, NJ. and purchased several Christmas decorating items. I found everything I was looking for and was pleased with the prices. Everything was going well until I got in a checkout line. Perhaps 5 people in my line including me and less in the line next to me. A beautiful day and we all seemed happy, talking with each other about the day and upcoming holidays. Then suddenly appears a woman screaming at the cashiers and I do mean screaming! Telling them to hurry hurry. Can’t they see people in line. Get it moving. Stop slacking and move faster. I never have witnessed such rude behavior towards employees in my 83 years of life. These cashiers were not slacking, customers were not complaining. The cashiers were being humiliated publicly by the store manager. I worked in retail when I was a young girl and we were treated with respect. What I witnessed today was poor management, harassment of employees, and unnecessary humiliation. If this is how management in your stores are trained to treat your employees then I for one, will never shop there again and you can be sure I will pass this kind of behavior onto anyone who will listen to me.
I live in Shoreline Wa. I have the Seattle store south of me and the Lynnwood Wa store north of me. I frequent them both. I have been preparing for a Holiday Open House and have been very busy working on my craft and purchasing supplies and products from your stores. I have spent several hundred dollars these past few months. While in the Seattle store on Nov 1st I sought out a sales associate to help me with a glue for my project. I told her what it was for, how I was using it, and then purchased the product she had suggested. It was not good at all for my project. I went to the Lynnwood store the next day, spent even more money than the day before, explained the glue problem and asked to return it. $6.99.
I was told that because the glue had been opened and could not be resold, that I could not return it. This is not acceptable and a very poor example of “Customer Service.” I understand your policy, but $6.99 is certainly not going to make or break Hobby Lobby, and crediting me would have been the right thing to do.
My husband and I frequent the Hobby Lobby Store in Jacksonville, Florida…..way too often!! We love the store!! We always find something. The prices are great. The store personnel are very helpful and customer focused, A well managed store.
I don’t like to write complaints. However in our Ada, OK Hobby Lobby, I have been charged for items I did not purchase too many times. It just happened again. I guess I should have checked the items before I drove home. I purchased 20 items, I dumped the two sacks out and counted. Ticket shows 22 items. One of them is a $9.99 Christmas item for 50% off. There was NO $9.99 item in the bags. I looked good. This may not be a great amount, but since it has happened before? I guess I will try to shop online? At least they get it right even if it takes two weeks to get it and is sometimes a tangled mess. Check out clerk was Starla C.
I love Hobby Lobby, but goodness.
I would like to express how I felt racially discriminated, and treated poorly at the Hobby Lobby location in Arden in Sacramento California. I was returning a broken wall item, which I had the receipt for. It was still within the 90 day return/exchange policy. I have spent over $500 in the last two months at this location to decorate my apartment. The employee was unsure what to do about the broken return, so she asked one of the managers upfront. She came up and was like It has to be within 90 days. I preceded to tell her It was, and she looked and then started counting the days out loud in front of me. I thought that was extremely rude. Then she preceded to call the store manager to the front of the store. He was in a very bad mood obviously because he yelled at the employee saying ” This is the last time , I wont tell you again.” in a very rude tone. I thought that was very disrespectful to do in front of a customer. He shouldn’t be speaking to employees that way anyway. So if he talks to his employees that way he sure doesn’t care about the way he treats customers. He then goes to ask me what happened to It. I said “It broke.” he said “but how?” I never knew how an item broke mattered when coming to return It with the receipt. The item could have been poorly constructed.
What if as soon as I stepped foot outside the store It broke. He goes ” well its not our responsibility what happens when you get home.” I wasn’t trying to get my money back ; I was trying to exchange It for the same item. He then says in a rude tone” Im going to let you return It , but i wont you do It anymore.” As if i’m someone who always makes returns or is just trying to be malicious with my exchange. If you were going to return the item then the second part of comment was not necessary. The item was $17.99. Why would I make a huge fuss over an item that was less than $20? The thing is, if they would’ve told me ” Ma’am its not in our policy to return a broken item .” I would have simply just repurchased the item no big deal. I felt he was already having a bad day, but that doesn’t excuse the way he treats people. I am a 25 year old African American Medical Student, who goes to a school that is all about diversity here in Sacramento. I was dressed in workout tights, a t-shirt, and my hair was in a bun. I felt if I would’ve had my scrubs or on or maybe business attire I would have been treated differently.
I want to commend the Orem, UT Hobby Lobby and especially their employee, Quarry. Quarry made me feel so important, like I truly mattered. He listened to what I was needing, asked clarifying questions, stayed with me for quite some time until he was satisfied that I was satisfied. I felt heard and helped. I don’t think I’ve ever felt that, ever, anywhere. Thank you Quarry! PS my 12 year old daughter kept saying, “he was really nice!”
I would like to recognize Emma in the framing department of Hobby Lobby Store #890 on Kingston Pike in Knoxville, TN. She provided me with outstanding customer service in both the framing department while looking for a shadow box for arrowheads and the jewelry section to assist in repair of a keychain bob. Emma was very knowledgeable and while leading me to the jewelry section, two other customers needed assistance and she happily provided service to all three of us with ease. You have a jewel of an employee and it makes me happy to return to this store for my needs. Good service can not be beat by pricing or convenience. Thank you Emma.
This place is horrible and I will never spend another penny here. Absolutely no attempt to provide any kind of customer service despite significantly inconveniencing their customer. Disgraceful.
TODAY MAY 25,2021 WAS MY WORST EXPERIENCE AT THE ABILENE TX HOBBY LOBBY!!! THEIR ASS. MANAGER WAS SO GOD AWFUL TO ME WHEN I ASKED A SIMPLE QUESTION ABOUT A CERTAIN PICTURE FRAME I WAS VERY VERY INTERESTED IN PURCHASING. SAID ASS. MANAGER TOLD ME VERY RUDELY WELL IF THE FRAME ISNT ON THE DISPLAY WALL THEN CLEARLY WE DONT HAVE IT!! I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW RUDE MANAGEMENT WAS SO I TURNED AND WALKED AWAY!!
I THEN CALL MY ALL TIME FAVORITE HOBBY LOBBY AND SPOKE WITH THE FRAME DEPARTMENT MANAGER CARMEN G. AND TOLD HER MY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AT THE ABILENE LOCATION. AS ALWAYS CARMER DELIVERS OUTSTANDING SERVICE FOR ME AND NOTIFIED ME THAT THE WAY THEY HANDLED THIS WAS NOT CORRECT AND SHE APOLOGIZED FOR THEIR BEHAVIOR AND FOR GIVING FALSE INFORMATION! I WILL CONTINUE TO BE A LOYAL CUSTOMER! THANK YOU CARMEN G. FOR ALWAYS DELIVERING EXCELLENT AND RESPECTFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
Hi, I have been meaning to do this for awhile but got busy. But i am looking at my shadow boxes at this very moment and this needs to be said. The framing manager April, at your Lake Jackson store in Texas is very talented! She did 5 very sentimental shadow boxes for me, that contained my late husbands treasured knives. Each one had over 20 items in them. And believe me, they were very difficult to do! Not only did she do them all so beautifully, but she arranged them perfectly. She really knows what she is doing! My family has done nothing but compliment them since i brought them home. Also, she is the sweetest thing. Excellent customer service, and you can tell she loves her job. I will definitely be going back to her with any of my custom framing needs. I already love Hobby Lobby, but she has made me love it even more! Thank you April!! God bless you!
We were in the Hobby Lobby in Baton Rouge, La. (On Juban) looking for a nice piece of furniture to put a TV on. I found a nice cabinet in the front of the store. Nice color, nice wood grain, and right size. It had some damage on it so I asked if they had another in store. A really nice associate checked to see and they did not. She also checked another store as well. Another store had one with some hardware issues and a leaning door. This one had some minor damage and was right there for sale NOW. Why not sell it because it was there and the only one. They were only going to discount it five percent for the damage. What do you think I did? My wife and I left wondering why they didn’t try a little harder. Maybe next time?
I shop at the Hobby Lobby in California, Maryland (Alton Lane) all the time. I recently decided to try the framing department. They are AMAZING!! I had a shadowbox done for my son’s USMC Boot Camp items… Its beautiful!! I decided to take in his Dress Blues and another one of his uniforms. They are presently working on them and were very thorough in asking questions about details to make sure they come out perfect. I received a quick peek at the 2 uniforms and am so excited to see them finished. You should be VERY PROUD of the entire crew there… I especially like Vince and Dana (they go above and beyond and take great pride in their work). They definitely represent Hobby Lobby in a positive light…. professionalism, personalities, detail to their work…. they are awesome!!!!
I have been shopping at your store since it opened in Duluth, MN and now the new store in Virginia,MN. I buy my stained glass there and also love all the fun other things you carry . Now that you no longer have the 40% off coupon I will not be shopping there anymore. Your stained glass is over priced and not the best quality. Also it Never goes on sale. There is a place closer to Hoyt lake’s who sells high quality stained glass. There prices are comparable so if I am not going to get a discount I will buy there . Good luck I know many more customers who feel the same way.
Went to Hobby Lobby store in Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. today. Left my 40% coupon at home( I’m old so don’t have an I phone). Didn’t realize I didn’t have my coupon until I was at checkout. Not to worry someone in line would let me use theirs or the checkout person has one. It’s happened before. But not today, Mr personality (NOT) your customer service guy would not budge, no coupon, no discount! My total purchase would have been around $3.00. It’s a matter of principal, I left without my purchase. Came home, retrieved my coupon went back to store. Mr Personality had left but nice young guy rang up my 3.00 purchase. Reached into my pocket book to get my $100.00 gift card I received from my sweet husband because he knows I love Hobby Lobby and alas this time I left my billfold at home with all my cards. No problem, I’ll just write a check. Mind you, we’re still talking about a $3.00 purchase. Nice young guy asked for ID. It’s also at home with billfold. No can take check. Long story short nice young guy and another nice lady employee were about to use their own money to pay for my purchase but about that time my daughter walks in and pays the $3.00 for me. I take complete responsibility for my forgetfulness not your fault. However, a little Christian love could have gone a long way today. I saw it in my second visit today but certainly not my first. Think I’m gonna give my gift card away.
I like going to your store and want to support you as much as possible. However, I’m old and on SS so I’m looking for that bargain always. I always check your clearance section , my daughter is an art teacher so I’m usually with her. So we’re in the Baton Rouge store and I’m all excited, the clearance sign says 75% off marked price. Not original price but marked price. Many of the items were broken, some bad, or one of a kind, like knobs, flawed. But if it’s marked down to $6.00 at 75% off I’ll give you a dollar fifty for it. So I loaded my cart with fixables headed to the register. I told the cashier all clearance so additional 75%off, right? Oh yes great deals she says. Mam they are not ringing up correctly. She says yes I say 75% off I tell her I don’t want if not discount, I’m nice about it. They explain that in small print under the giant 75% off it says clearance price is marked. Y’all got to keep it all and restock it. I found my daughter explained the problem and we left. Misleading, just say 75% off original. Or priced as marked.
First of all I would like to express how much I enjoy shopping and looking around in our Hobby Lobby store here in Danville Virginia. I have shopped there almost weekly since you opened this store. The customer service is outstanding, the staff is always so willing to assist you anyway they can. And the store is so well organized, clean and well stocked.
I live about 10 minutes further from another city that has a Joann Frabric store, and sometimes if I’m buying or looking for a large quantity I will go there because they give a 15% military discount on entire purchase. Have you ever thought about giving a military discount, it would be very nice if you did.
Thank you.
This note is to commend Hobby Lobby for the excellent service and merchandise that your company offers. It is wonderful to visit your store and browse through the great variety of items that you have displayed. The written and visual content is always uplifting, which is so refreshing.
Kudos also to your staff, who are so helpful and kind. I was assisted by Lisa and Lynn in the framing department yesterday at store #161 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and they were really helpful and courteous.
Thank you again, and God bless!
