About Glade
Glade is a popular air freshener brand part of the S. C. Johnson & Son family. Introduced first in 1956, Glade’s products are sold across the US, Canada and Germany. You can find it at any of the leading grocery, drug, hardware and discount stores. It is also known as Gleid and Brise in some markets. Products include candles & wax melts (2in1 Candle, Jar Candle, Large Candle, Wax Melts), oils & gels (Glade Plugins Scented Oil, Solid Air Freshener), soft surfaces and sprays (Automatic Spray, Premium Room Spray, Room Spray, Glade Sense & Spray Automatic Freshener). As for scent types, there is Clean, Floral, Fruity, Gourmet, Outdoor, Spicy and Tropical, to name a few. You can find the collections and types on the website.
I very rarely post reviews but I have to say I am so disappointed with the new spray can design of the Glade room freshener. I never cared for Febreeze because it was too wet and way too expensive. I loved Glade and used it for years. Now it is twice the price for a can, and the new spray button is just awful. It starts out well enough but before even half the can has been used the spray button stops working correctly. It stops spraying a fine mist and starts shooting droplets of scented water all over the floor. Eventually it stops spraying all together. This has happened with several cans in all different scents. Please, please go back to the old spray button or I will have to stop buying it. I would pay the extra if the sprayer just worked properly for the whole can’s use like it used to. I can see from the reviews that others have had this same problem. Thank you for caring.
I’ve been using this for years and it works well. However all the new sprayers have the manual button on the back now (and a fake button on the front). I like to wall hang mine and you cannot access the button unless you unhook it from the wall. My old dispenser had a convenient button on the front so you could walk by and hit it if you needed. Now it’s a lot more steps. When you redesign, let me know so I can toss all these worthless back button ones…
I have been a faithful user of Glade aerosol air freshener for over 30 years. I don’t know why it is so wet now when it is sprayed. If I wanted my rugs, floors, tables, lamps, pictures, appliances and furniture to be drenched, I would spray Febreze carpet deodorizer directly onto everything!! At least I know it’s supposed to be wet! Most of the people that I know, who use the new formula/aerosol spray have the same complaint. The price went up and the quality went down.
Love the brown sugar & vanilla! Makes my home smell wonderful – I have 5 units throughout. However, I can never find it in the stores.
I’ve purchased glade air fresheners for over 40 years. Who’s idea was it to change the formula and it’s dangerous because it’s wet, wet, wet, did I say it’s wet. So you think because you added on the caution regarding the wet floors that makes it alright? I’m 68 now I have to look for a different type of air freshener.
My family an I have been using glade for years, but the new can sprays are too wet, when its sprayed it falls to the floor an its slippery, an last, the prices are to high in stores an on line, please be observant to this matter, Thank you
I have been buying Glade, clean linen 8 oz bottle sprays FOREVER! I LOVE the smell of it. Or I should say LOVED… You changed the formula and now? IT STINKS to high heavens. WHY do you feel the need to mess with a formula that was already perfect? Walmart wants $20 for 1.. ONE BOTTLE of the original. There’s also one 8 oz with the most recent gold top in there for $9.
I find it very stupid that you don’t place obvious directions, on your auto sprayer, for opening the machine. You have thousands of new users, that you will lose if you don’t fix that stupid lack of design in your directions. Pictures don’t work for everyone. Especially when there are no schematic directions. Specific direction make way more sense. I shouldn’t have to fight with the device, just to use the thing.
I buy the refills Clean Linen and only one or two out of 3 five pack packages have a freshener all the rest are only oil. And this product is expensive and it’s been like this for a long time now. I pay $11.98 for one pack of five refills and maybe one has air freshener in the pack.
I’ve been buying Glad Cashmere Woods Room Spray for years. I enjoy the soft scent. However, I just purchased a twin pack of what I thought was the same product. It boasts a new “100% natural dispenser”. The dispenser now propels a much weaker spray, annoying. Furthermore, the scent has been tampered with. It doesn’t smell as good, but, cheap like a knock-off of the original. Ditch the new dispenser and scent. Why must you tamper with a good product?
I have been buying your plug in room freshener for years. You did a change in style of the plug in that you put the scent bottles in. I am very disappointed in this style, which I have 3 of. They release the scent at such a slow amount. And that’s at fully open setting. I have had them plugged in for months now & oil scent is still at same level & I never smell the scent. Again, I have 3 & all are the same & in different rooms. I much prefer your past model & will now need to go to a different brand. It seems to be a flawed design & you will not be selling many refills at this rate.
I have purchased 2 apple and cinnamon automatic spray refills and both have had defective nozzles. Instead of spray coming from the nozzle it comes from around the bottom of the nozzle. What can I do to fix this? I threw away the first one already. I can’t keep buying to throw away.
I love Glade refillable air fresheners but lately I have broken the plastic top from the can when I remove the plastic lid…this makes the aerosol can unusable since it cannot be reattached…please fix this problem because I can’t afford to buy and discard like that. Thank you
Thank you, thank you for your Clean Linen air freshener. It is a truly pleasant fragrance that is clean smelling, not sickly sweet with flowery fake scent. Each morning I simply spray the sheets and pillows before making the bed…leaving a freshly laundered odor for nighttime! Naturally, most linens these days are dried in a dryer instead of hung outside in sunshine and fresh air, so your product is such a pleasure to use between launderings! Thank you, Glade! Also your pine scent is very much more realistic than Febreeze brand, but I was unable to find it in December of 2021!! I much prefer it to your competition!! I was forced to buy and discard a can of Febreeze….it did not compare with Glade. Your pine fragrance is pleasant year round, not just at Christmas. Please, keep making nice fragrances that do not smell like cheap artificial perfumes, and I will continue to select and recommend Glade products!!!
I can’t use the dispenser because it is glued shut. Pressed the button repeatedly and tried desperately to open it. Now my arthritic fingers are swollen and stiff. Damn the Glade dispenser. Instructions on bottom of box are pathetic. “Open Unit and blah, blah.” REALLY!!! This is a pitiful design.
One point of feedback – the glade plug in plus device does not change to rest mode unless I unplug it from the wall, switch the switch to 16h mode, and then plug back into the wall. The instructions make it sound like the switch can work to activate rest mode while remaining plugged into the wall but this does not work. I’d consider updating the instructions to reflect that or at least saying this method may work for some if the switch isn’t working while plugged into the wall.
Did you know that Glade cinnamon sprays keep bats away? We had a small bat infestation in our home and by trial and error I was able to conclude that glade sprays, candles, and plug-ins made the bats move away. I love Glade products and will always be a fan!
Hello! I bought 3 the Glade Sprays and I am having problems with them. After certain time of use I can not spray them even though the container still has a third of liquid .It do not work in any of the ones I bought.Terrible ,lost my money and it’s very frustrating not to be able to finish the spray.Very disappointed!Your quality control department is not doing a good job testing this bottles.
I contacted Glade previously about the discontinued Sense and Spray. Someone at Glade was kind enough to send me coupons for the plug-in style air freshener. Unfortunately, I, and many other people, do not have enough outlets (especially in the bathroom) to be able to use the plug-ins. I also know some people who don’t like to leave them plugged in all day when no one is home. The sense and Spray was perfect. Recently, Airwick introduced something similar to the Sense and Spray and I have gone with that. It’s a shame companies can’t leave well enough alone. You had a great product and for whatever reason you discontinued it. I just thought you would like to know that another company picked up where you left off.
Same problem as of Sary Alana.
The 2 Glade air fresheners bought recently ( Auckland , New Zealand ) cannot spray them even the container is still full.
Hi I have been buying Glade and the dispensers for many years, probably from when you first introduced the electric spray. I love walking into a clean fresh smell after work but the last 2 I bought did not last long. One had an issue with closing properly and another it leaked constantly. What is happening with the product. The refill can has increased in price and the dispensers are not as good. I am hoping that future products do not have as many issues as this one.
I would like to make a suggestion for air freshener scents. At this time of the year I would like to be able to purchase a Glad Air Freshener that smells like Butter Roasted Turkey. For some of us that buy our turkey dinners, it would be nice to scent the house with baking turkey aroma so the family thinks I made the turkey. Thanks for your consideration.
