About Adopt-a-Pet
Adopt-a-Pet is a well known pet adoption website in the US, launched in the year 2000. The non-profit adoption service connects more than 12,000 pet shelters across the US and Canada. Formerly it operated as 1-800-Save-A-Pet. The adoption advertising charity helps homeless pets find shelter at caring homes. Besides animal shelters, Adopt-a-Pet also connects humane societies, SPCAs, and pet adoption agencies, letting them advertise homeless pets to millions of adopters for free.
Pet lovers can search for dogs, cats, rabbits and even horses using the search tool on the homepage. You can provide your zip code or area to get results of matching pets. The search results will throw profiles of pets and will include information of breed, the age, color and other relevant details. If you want to contact the adoption agency or pet owner, you can do same through the page. After contacting the pet owner, you can even schedule a visit to see the pet before making a commitment to adopt. The adoption process varies according to shelter. There will also be an adoption fee which will range between $20 and $130. The fee for adopting from a rescue might be different.
There are more than 3 million potential adopters using the website each month. If you are a shelter or rescue group, you can advertise for free and connect homeless animals to individuals. There are a number of resources published on the website to assist pet adopters as well as shelters and adoption agencies. Pet adoption information, pet basic care, behavior/training, and safety and other related details are also available in the form of content. For more information or queries on registration, advertisement, or others, reach the Adopt-a-Pet support.
I adopted “George the curious” grey tabby who was a friendly 2 year old after my hip surgery in April last year. He has been an awesome companion since, thank you, adopt-a-pet.!!!
