The year is 2014. The Indian smartphone market was in dire need of innovation as consumers were looking value for money. None of the brands were remotely able to provide the same. Enter Xiaomi with its first smartphone in India, known as the Mi3, and in just a fortnight, the company quickly became a revelation.

Xiaomi’s market strategy in India has always been about capturing the budget to mid-end territory, enticing customers with the superior build quality, fantastic specifications, long-term software support, and reliable customer care service. The entry of Xiaomi altered the Indian smartphone market in a tremendous way that local brands such as Micromax, Karbonn, Intex and Xolo failed to keep up and quickly became extinct.

Today, Xiaomi is among the top three smartphone makers in India, with a 16 per cent market share (as of Q1 2023). In addition to that, Xiaomi prioritises India as one of their major markets, thereby releasing most of their smartphones soon after their initial launch in China. Some of the current most popular smartphones from Xiaomi include the Redmi Note 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12, POCO F5, POCO F5 Pro, Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 12T Pro, 13 Ultra, and the POCO X5 Pro.

With that being said, if you own a Xiaomi smartphone and have been facing some issues lately, whether they are related to software or hardware, it makes sense to book a repair at one of the company’s service centres. We have laid out some easy steps for you to follow.

How to Book a Repair on the Phone?

If you are planning to book a repair by calling the company’s customer care service, then you can do so by following the below-mentioned steps.

  1. First, get in touch with Xiaomi’s customer care at 1800 103 6286. Phone lines are open from 9 AM to 9 PM IST.
  2. Navigate through the on-call menus and select the option to speak to a customer care executive.
  3. Once a live agent connects to your call, state your smartphone make/model, and the issue you are facing, and then request a service/repair booking. Additionally, you also have to disclose the place where you bought the device.
  4. After that, the customer service agent will ask for your name, phone number, email address, city and state, and pincode. You also need to provide your preferred date and time for repairs. Once you provide this information, the customer care executive will then initiate a repair booking in your name at your nearest service centre.
  5. Lastly, you will receive a confirmation message on your email address and phone number regarding the successful booking of your service appointment.

How to Book a Repair Online?

If you are unable to book a repair by phone, then you can use Xiaomi’s online portal to book a service appointment. Follow the below-mentioned steps to do so.

  1. Start by first visiting the official online repair booking portal here. On the landing page, click on “Service Center Appointment”.

  3. After that, you have to provide your name, phone number, email address, preferred date and time for the visit, and a description of your issue.
  4. Once done, click on “Submit,” and your online repair booking will be registered.
  5. Additionally, you will also receive a confirmation message on your email ID and phone number.

Types of Repair

Xiaomi offers a variety of repair services for its products. Some of the more common ones have been listed below.

Screen replacements are always the most common repairs for smartphones, including Xiaomi. If your screen is cracked, damaged, or showing vertical lines, then it will require an alteration.

If you have an older Xiaomi smartphone that is no longer holding its charge for extended periods, then a battery replacement is due. And since smartphones nowadays mostly come with non-user-replaceable batteries, you need to visit the service centre to get your smartphone’s dwindling battery replaced.

For some reason, if your Xiaomi smartphone is not turning on, then it could be possible that its motherboard has been damaged and needs a replacement. Usually, motherboard replacements tend to be more costly than any other repairs.

Speakers in old Xiaomi smartphones tend to get quieter over time, which can be an issue if you take or receive a lot of phone calls or use your smartphone as a multimedia powerhouse. Speakers can also be damaged by water or any liquid intrusion.

Other non-hardware related repairs include updating your smartphone with the latest software, in case the present version is not working as intended. Or if you need to recover data from your damaged or non-working device.

Additionally, you can also register your Xiaomi product after purchase, to ensure that you get access to benefits such as extended warranties, quick service bookings, exclusive offers, and more. Finally, you can also troubleshoot any minor issues with your Xiaomi smartphone by downloading its product manual seamlessly.
