wataniyaWataniya Telecom Maldives was founded in the year 1999. It is the second largest telecommunications company in the Maldives. Wataniya is owned and operated by Qatar Telecom (QTel). QTel has more than 57.5 million customers across 17 countries. Wataniya was the first to launch a 3.5G HSDPA network in the country. Speaking of the company’s services, for prepaid connection, there is wPrepaid that can be recharged using a Recharge Card, Raastas, Bank of Maldives ATMs or through Internet Banking. For postpaid connection there is wPostpaid that has several packages that offer free unlimited calls, free SMS, free MobileNet, discounted calls and more. wPostpaid200, wPostpaid400 and wPostpaid600 are some of the plans available. International Roaming is available on all wPostpaid packages, but must be subscribed before going abroad. Wataniya offers wRashuPhone for those wanting wireless land phones. Looking for broadband, Wataniya offers wBroadband for high speed internet on 3G network. The wModem once connected to the laptop offers a speed up to 1 Mbps.
