Verizon Communications was founded in the year 1983 as Bell Atlantic and is today a major telecommunications company. In 2000, a partnership with Vodafone brought out the Verizon Wireless which is today the largest mobile telecommunications network in US. It has over 100 million subscribers. The company offers global voice and data services in more than 200 destinations around the world. In 2010, Verizon Wireless had a revenue of $63.4 Billion. The company employs over 85,000 people. It further serves more than 142 million customer connections (wireless, wireline, broadband and TV) served every day. The company has America’s fastest and most advanced 4G LTE network and largest 3G network.
Last Saturday I made the difficult decision to make the switch to AT&T. Although I felt dirty, I felt like it was the right decision. My new plan was $80 cheaper and that included two new phones and a new apple watch. Now came the real test: their service. I haven’t had one dropped call since the switch.
So mid week I wake up to an email from Verizon saying I owe $1,029 for breaking a contract. After calling the billing department I was transferred to their “retention group”. The guy begins the conversation saying “You been with us for 20 years…where you going?” After explaining my situation, he became very rude to me, basically conveying to me how dare I leave Verizon. It was borderline verbal abuse. He basically stated this was my exit tax. I asked him to email me that bill, he said we don’t do that at Verizon.
After 20+ years of loyalty and the numerous friends and family I got to switch, I feel abandoned. I hope you guys understand this was the wrong move. The old verbiage goes, 1 friend will tell 10…..Well in my case, I won’t stop until I feel like I got my money’s worth. I am a very committed person when I’m activated. Thanks Verizon.
Verizon service is awful. I got the iPhone 13 as an upgrade from my 10 which dropped calls. After spending over 8 total hours at one of your stores I finally got the phone. It also drops calls. I am now at a different location and the sim card that was installed was the incorrect one.
I have been here for over an hour holding on for “customer service”. I have been a Verizon customer for 18 years, I think it’s time to switch carrier.
On the 8th of January my best friend’s mother left a voice mail message on my wife’s phone to tell me gently, he had passed away that day. My wife did not get the voice mail until the afternoon of January 11 and told me he had passed away the day he was buried. She did not get any notice she had a voice mail for 4 days. This had happened to me personally but not something as this important. Friends have called me personally tell me they were getting together a mile and a half away from my home leaving a voice mail on a Saturday and I had not received this until a Tuesday. For one of the premier wireless companies in the world I could believe this happens.
I called Verizon wireless operator on the night of January 11th who put me in contact with a call center. The call center put me in contact with technical support who supposedly ran a diagnostic on my phone. Surprisingly with in a few days the called me not on my cell phone but on my Verizon land line and left a message that after there analysis they find that were are in a “limited service area”. What a load of crap. Limited service area I live in Eldersburg 2 mile from the Baltimore county line. My wife works in Baltimore City and her phone goes with her everyday and still she did not get notice of this very important to me voice mail. IS BALTIMORE CITY IN A LIMITED PHONE AREA? This explanation is not good enough. Why didn’t they call on my cell phone; maybe they were afraid the call wouldn’t go through? I asked for a supervisor to call me, didn’t happen.
About 4 months ago I had the very unpleasant service at the Lebanon, TN store. I had purchased a wireless connector so I could get on the internet. When I got home it would not work because I live in a area where there are a lot of trees. I returned the connector to the Lebanon, TN store – they had already told me I could return it if it didn’t work. Upon returning it the same sales person said there would be a $50 restock fee. Needless to say I was irate because she had not mentioned a restock fee at the time of purchase. I swore I would never go back into a Verizon store.
Yes the sales reps dont tell you about the hidden fees to restock, so all beware, Verizon is a rip artist that is good at there game..
