About National Police of Ukraine
The National Police of Ukraine is the main law enforcement agency safeguarding citizens and their property in Ukraine. Formerly, the police force operated as Militsiya, till the formation of the National Police of Ukraine, in 2015. Currently, the national police has staff of more than 130,000, both police and civil personnel. Headquartered at Kiev, the force is responsible to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Locally popular as Politsiya, the force manages its operations through the many departments and sections. They include the Criminal Investigation Dept, Human Rights Protection Dept, Preventive Service Dept, Drug Control Dept, Dept Combating Human Trafficking, Criminal Intelligence Dept, Dept of Police Security, Dept of Patrol Police, among others.
The regional police subdivisions cover the cities Kiev, Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Uzhhorod, Mukacheve, Mykolaiv, Lutsk, Dnipro, Kherson, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Poltava, Ternopil, Boryspil, Chernivtsi, Rivne, Sumy, Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Kryvyi Rih, Sievierodonetsk, Lyschansk, Rubizhne and Mariupol. The local police authorities work to enforce laws and procedures for better law and order maintenance, to check crime and investigate criminal activities.

The rank hierarchy within the force consist of Major, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, Major General, Lieutenant General, Colonel General, Constable Police Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain.
