About India International Trade Fair (IITF)
The India International Trade Fair (IITF) has been a popular platform for domestic and international organisations to showcase their products and services in India. Annually held in New Delhi, at Pragati Maidan, the IITF is said to be one of the largest trade fairs in the world in terms of visitor participation. First held in the year 1980, the trade fair is organised by the India Trade Promotion. The annual fair is mostly held in the month of November and stretches to 14 days. Last year the fair was held from November 14-27.
The general public are not allowed during the first few days which is open only for business interactions. It is attended by traders, exporters and manufacturers from around the country, be it for scaling B2B or B2C operations. The fair is the perfect platform for finding buyers, interactions and marketing with large crowds of people thronging each day. Not just for business, people also visit IITF for fun and a time of leisure with a wide number of exhibits colorfully decked. Products include textiles, jute, household appliances, decor items, furniture, homeware products, electronic items and much more. The theme of the exhibition changes every year and is decided by the ITPO.
Spread across 123 acres, Pragati Maidan encompasses16 exhibition halls besides the open display area. What makes the fair interesting are the stalls separated by state and even country. There are stalls representing major states in India showcasing products locally available in the region. Additionally, you have food courts where people can enjoy local cuisine and culinary delights. Open from 9.30am to 7.30pm, the trade fair sees participation from Australia, UK, Vietnam, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Iran, Bhutan, China, Turkey, Egypt, Hong Kong and Indonesia.
Pragati Maidan can be easily accessed by bus, taxi and metro (closest being Supreme Court /Pragati Maidan station). Hazrat Nizamuddin is the closest railway station. Parking facility is available for those driving in their automobile. The costs vary for two wheelers and cars. As for accommodation, Pragati Maidan is centrally located and you will find a number of budget rooms as well as star hotels.
You will need a ticket to gain entry to the trade fair. Not just business visitors, the venue is open for general public. Tickets for public cost Rs 50 (weekdays). The business visitor ticket costs Rs 500 per person. Ticket outlets are available at different gates. Do visit the organiser’s website to check ticket costs or entry points.
