Hamburg U-Bahn is a German rapid transit system that began operations in 1912. It has a fleet of close to 250 trains that serve the cities of Hamburg, Norderstedt and Ahrensburg. The U-Bahn operates 4 lines connecting to 91 stations. Annually, it transports more than 220 million commuters. Hamburg U-Bahn is operated by Hamburger Hochbahn. It begins at 5am and ends at midnight 12am.
The 4 lines consist of U1 (Norderstedt Mitte – Jungfernstieg – Hauptbahnhof Süd – Ohlstedt / Großhansdorf), U2 (Niendorf Nord – Jungfernstieg – Hauptbahnhof Nord – Mümmelmannsberg), U3 (Barmbek – Circle – Barmbek – Wandsbek-Gartenstadt) and U4 (HafenCity Universität – Jungfernstieg – Hauptbahnhof Nord – Billstedt).
