About Chime Bank
Chime is a mobile-focused financial service institution founded by Chris Britt and Ryan King in 2013. The mobile- and web-based bank is based out of San Francisco, California. Chime’s banking services are provided by The Bancorp Bank or Stride Bank. Currently, there are more than 5 million customers using the platform. With Chime Banking, there is no fee for overdraft up to $100, no hidden fees and best of all, you can get your paycheck two days early. New customers can get started on the website. When you open a bank account with Chime, you also get a Chime Visa Debit Card, a Spending Account and an optional Savings Account. All deposits on Chime are FDIC insured up to $250,000.
Applying for account is free and can be done in less than 2 minutes. Once registered, you can download the Chime mobile app for iOS or Android and start managing your transactions and spending. You can transfer money, deposit checks, pay bills, open deposits and much more. The app will send you daily balance notifications and instant transaction alerts. And if you lost your card, you can disable same right within the app. Have to deposit a check? You can take a photo and upload without having to visit a branch and wait in long queues. The app allows one to send checks to businesses and individuals via mail. According to the website, Chime supports mobile payment apps including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.
Besides tracking account balance and daily transactions, banking customers can use the app to send money instantly to friends using Pay Friends feature. There are no transaction fees or monthly fees for sending payments. It is instant and comes with zero fees for expedited transfers. The feature is built into your mobile bank account. And if you need to withdraw money, Chime offers free ATM withdrawals at over 38,000 fee-free ATMs located through the US. Most banks charge a fee for overdraft. With Chime, you are allowed an overdraft of up to $100 without a fee. Those with total monthly direct deposits of $500 or more are eligible for the service.
To open a bank account online, all you need is a Social Security Number and home address. There is no paperwork involved for enrollment. I was suppose to get paid on 2/14/20 here it is 2/22/20 and I still haven’t received my direct deposit. Now I’m stuck borrowing money to pay bills when I was suppose to receive my check that Wednesday before the Friday. Called chime/ stride bank twice on Friday 2/14/20 I was told give it a cpl of hours and my check would be direct deposited. I was told this twice. I was told that my check haven’t been sent back to my employer. My employer also confirmed this. So I called again on Tuesday since Monday was president’s day and the bank was closed. Then I was told that federal reserve is holding my money/ check. Spoke to the bank manager whose named is Peter who told me that I need to call my employer to get a tracking number. I’m tired. So tired and frustrated.
