The company was formed in 14 July 1938 as Radio Lamp Works Limited under the Indian Companies Act (1913) as a Public company limited. In 1960, it was renamed as Bajaj Electrical Limited. It is a part of the larger Bajaj Group. The company was and continues to be based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. However, with 19 branch offices managing an extensive network of about 1000 distributors, 4000 authorised dealers, 400,000 retail outlets and 282 Customer Care centres, the company is well connected to each part of the country. The vision of the company, as phrased themselves is “To bring greater happiness to our customers, through our products and services, while continuously enhancing stakeholder value.”
The main domain of expertise of the company is lighting, consumer durables and engineering projects. In 1964, Bajaj Electricals took over Matchwell Electricals (India) Limited, a manufacturer of electric fans. This helped the firm diversify further over time into a number of new segments such as appliances, fans and LPG based Generators. Today, Bajaj Electricals has a significant presence is the Indian consumer electronics market and its share in the market continues to grow. Meanwhile, the company remains keen to expand into new segments to match market requirements.
Lighting includes lamps, tubes and luminaires. Further Bajaj Electricals has specialized solutions for workspace lighting, retail lighting, industrial lighting, hazardous area lighting, roadway lighting and urban area lighting. Lighting solutions are aimed at both consumer and corporate segments. In this segment, Bajaj Electricals benefits from international tie-ups with Trilux, Delta, Disano and Securiton.
Consumer durables include appliances and fans. A more detailed view of the product range involved includes iron boxes, room coolers, microwave ovens, mixer grinders, food processors, juicers, hand blenders and choppers. Bajaj Electricals offers a great range of consumer products at different price ranges. The company has also been involved in a technical collaboration and brand licensing agreement with Morphy Richards. Earlier, they were involved in an international joint venture with Black & Decker Corporation.
Engineering projects include transmission line towers, telecommunications towers, highmast, poles and special projects, and others include die casting, wind energy & solar energy. Some notable projects undertaken by Bajaj Electricals include lighting works at the Commonwealth Games stadium and the Bandra Worli Sea Link. I did the biggest mistake of my life by purchasing a geyser of such a small company Bajaj. These companies can never stand in front of companies like LG as Bajaj does not know the value of good customer care service unlike other renowned companies provide. From the very first day of purchase my geyser is not working but after two many complaints problem still continues. Technicians are not technical sound .they are not able even to find the problem fixing is quite far from their standard. May be as a small company they don’t have sufficient money to appoint knowledgeable person. I won’t recommend any body to go for Bajaj. Always go for big names as they are big because they knows the importance of loosing even a single customer.
