Arcelik A.S is one of the leading manufacturers of consumer durables and electronics in Turkey. The company offers production, after-sales support and marketing services for white goods, home appliances, electronic products, kitchen accessories including freezers, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, coffee makers, aspirators, and blenders. Arcelik is Europe’s fourth-biggest company in terms of sales, specifically considering white goods. The company was founded by Lutfu Doruk and Vehbi Koc in 1955. Arcelik and Hitachi GLS will now form a new entity with the former controlling the operations in home appliance market. The transaction involves two Hitachi GLS manufacturing plants in China and Thailand. Arcelik has also signed a deal with air conditioner maker, Voltas, for a joint venture company in India. With an equity capital of $100 million, the company will be responsible for manufacturing washing machines, refrigerators, microwaves, and other domestic appliances.
