About Albertsons
Albertsons was founded by Joe Albertson in the year 1939. It is a supermarket chain in America that has more than 450 stores in nine states. Some of Albertsons’ private brands include Essential Everyday, Wild Harvest, Stockman & Dakota, Baby Basics and Culinary Circle. The company is operated and owned by SuperValu Inc, which has about 2,500 retail stores and is a leader in the grocery retailing industry. Supervalu has annual sales of approximately $37 billion and employs some 135,000 people across the country. Some of its other subsidiaries include Acme, Bristol Farms, Max Foods, Jewel Express, Jewel and Jewel-Osco, Osco Pharmacy, Sav-on Pharmacy, Shaw’s and Star Market.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I moved from Montecito to my condominium in Carpinteria a few years ago. Before the remodeling of Albertson’s I did all my shopping at Von’s in Carpinteria. I was excited to hear Albertson’s would be offering organic produce, and other organic products, because I buy strictly organic products.
Recently, I have been very disappointed with the quality, and quantity of the organic produce. The brocolli has rubber-like stalks, and the romaine lettuce looks wilted. I won’t even pick up the lettuce, because it looks that bad. The zucchini & summer squash are sad looking to. I have decided to begin shopping at Von’s again, which is unfortunate because your market is closer to where I live. Von’s has a very large, organic stand, which is always kept full of fresh produce, and fruit. I wish Albertson’s would use a larger organic stand. I’m sure if it were well maintained, and offfered more it would do very well. Von’s has even placed some of their organic produce in with their “non-organic” produce because of the overflow. So, there is obviously interest in the organic produce and fruits.
I really don’t want to be contacted because I’ve tried that before, to no avail. I would like to see an improvement, and I hope to for their sake, and all interested organic shoppers.
Do a “surprise” pop-in unannounced visit sometime, and you will see what I mean.
Thank you very much for your time.

We recently, grandparents and parents of a participant, attended the Albertson’s War V track and field meet in Spokane.
The track and field events were well managed and run. The one major problem was a complete lack of bevearage and food items for spectators including even bottled water, for sale.
We assumed that Albertson’s as the lead sponsor would have coordinated some availability of refreshments for an all day meet of this type.
Disappointed Attendees.
