I had booked air India flight from Paris to bangalore on 20/02/2017 via Delhi. As my connecting flight from Delhi to bangalore is on 22/02/2017 morning. Thus I wanted to know that does I need to check out my baggage and recheck on 22/02/2017 morning?
I’m a New Zealand born, Irish citizen currently residing in the UK. I work as a TV journalist and travel frequently around the world.
Next week I am flying from Paris with Air India which departs 21:30 on Tuesday 11 March.
Prior to booking the ticket I researched the baggage allowance details via your website because I will be checking in two pieces around 14KG each.
As mentioned I travel frequently and am well aware of airline policy which most now allow up to 30kg with two pieces being checked in. In order for me to get to Paris I am flying BA and have checked in my additional suitcase for 32 pounds.
On your website there is no indication of what the baggage allowance is to Sydney therefore I noted that Paris – India, economy is 30kg and India – Sydney one way is 40kg. I have now been informed this is incorrect and not only am I not able to check in another bag and pay prior to departure there is a possibility that I will have to pay EUR58 for each additional KG over 20.
Due to the nature of my career I am extremely busy and have spent the past two days dealing with your contact centers in Paris, India and the UK, following these conversations I have been left with absolutely no solution – and I must stress I’m not in a position to be paying EUR58 per KG, this will not be an option for me.
The most frustrating part is the customer service representatives have been most unhelpful – they have admitted that the information on the website hasn’t been updated and confirmed that it is very misleading with no reference to baggage allowance requirements for Paris to Sydney.
They confirmed that there is no direct flight to Sydney, therefore it goes via India (which states on your website that it is 30KG) and then Paris to Sydney (which states on your website that it is 40kg) see attached screen shots. There is NO reference to Paris – Sydney being 20kg.
I don’t really care what it is, I just need to add an additional bag at a reasonable cost – can you please advise who I can speak to who will be able to provide a solution to this as soon as possible – I”m on a deadline and really don’t have the time, I just want to be able to talk to someone who can assist.
Its a real shame as I was looking forward to flying Air India, I’ve heard some great things about the airline however, at the moment I can’t say I”m in agreement with these opinions…
