Have a 2014 Dodge Durango Citadel, the radiator connection to the lower hose connection started leaking. I called several dealers in the Cleveland area to have it repaired. When I told the Dodge dealer in Avon, who had the shortest wait for repair schedule of three days in the area, I had Dodge’s lifetime warranty, he advised they will not work on vehicles with that warranty because it was hassle to have Dodge approve repairs. I confirmed an appointment two week out at another dealer for the repair. In the meantime I’ll continue to add antifreeze to the reserve because Dodge can’t make warranty repairs for customers in a timely fashion. I don’t need this stress and I’ll not purchase a replacement for my Citadel from Dodge if their Dealers are out two weeks on making repairs to warranty work.
I have had a dodge since I started driving. When I retired I bought a new 1500 series 4WD truck. A few months later door locks quit working. After replacing switches several times they said it was the integrated power module and charged me over $300 to replace it. They said this item is not covered by Dodge warranty (on a brand new truck). Yesterday my windows started rolling down by themselves, door locks come open even when I am not in the vehicle. The truck bed lights come on by themselves and ran the battery totally down overnight. Windows rolled down during the night and it rained. A very expensive part to keep replacing.
I have been a Dodge fan for over 20 years I have had no less than 5 dodge products and I have encourage my company and family to purchase the product. I have come to regret this decision with my very expensive truck that now has a blown engine because of a design defect . There is a well known defect with the 5.7 hemi motor that valve train can break off and get circulated around the engine. My 2013 Dodge 1500 Laramie apparently had this defect. You would think that spending $65,000.00 on a truck you might expect some quality. The dealership was no help and if I want to have a vehicle have to outright purchase a new one because I cant get anyone to take me seriously. I am going to advise my company to rethink ordering any more dodges. I would like to get a call from someone ASAP to resolve this issue but I am not holding my breath.
Having extolled the service and vehicle for over 3 years I now find I’m revising my opinion of dodge. I purchased a new Dodge Caliber SE CRD this time 4 years ago from a Chrysler, Dodge Jeep dealership in Cardiff South Wales UK called Stratstone. I purchased extra warranty as I knew I would be keeping the vehicle for over the 3 years that was covered with this purchase. Initially all was well, but then I had issues with the reverse selection and took it back to the dealership this was 6 months after purchase, they also did a service at the same time, the dealership was about 4 miles from where I was living at the time and about a mile from the nearest bus stop, I had to walk to the bus stop and then back again a few hours later. Within weeks when I was in Luton and had the same problem again, I contacted the Dodge privelage customer number and soon a gentleman turned up and sorted this out again, he told me that the previous repair was only “greasing the selecter block”. Having the repair done again I journeyed up to North Wales and behold the same thing again, but this time the gentleman who turned up said that the car was un-driveable and had the car taken to the nearest dealership which was in Chester. I was then given a hire car which turned up about 4 hours after my car had been taken away. My car was delivered back to me a week later after the dealership had replaced the gear linkage which was found to be the fault. Apart from the Cardiff dealership I was very pleased and happy with the level of customer service and care I received and told people about it. After that I had a sensor problem which knocked the ESP system, and again the Chester dealership dealt with this and again as it was due a service, serviced it.
On the 23rd May this year my partner was driving the car when the was a big bang followed by smoke coming from the engine compartment. I took her daughters car and armed with the privelige number went to her rescue. I spent nearly 30 minutes on the phone to this number explaining who I was and the issue that the car was stranded on the edge of a dual carriageway, and not being a motor mechanic know very little about modern engines couldn’t actually say what the problem was. The AA turned up and proceeded to tell me that the car far from being owned was actually leased, which I obviously disagreed with, anyway neither of us seemed to be getting anywhere, him with his office and me with Dodge privilage so he agreed to tow me to where my partners parents live about 2 miles away. The car sat there for nearly 7 weeks whilst i tried to sort out why I wasn’t getting any service from Dodge or Stratstone, apparantly when the dealership in Cardiff closed some paperwork must have been lost as the didn’t have any details for me regarding extra warranty or other things I had asked for and paid for. I have phoned all round the UK trying to get this resolved with promise of return calls that I’m still waiting for and I even contacted Dodge head office in the UK but still no help. I have since gone on the internet and having spoken to a mechanic have found that the VW engine in my car has a common fault that the oil pump breaks down and the first you know of it the car breaks down and this can happen even when the car has a full service history and there are no senors to warn you of this problem. The car hasn’t even done 50,000 mile yet and now the engine block has a large hole in the side. I have had to go out and purchase an engine and get it to a garage to get it installed and as you can imagine this is not cheap.
Far from extolling the virtues of Dodge now I’m telling people about my experience and lack of concern from Dodge UK and Stratstone. I have emailed the CEO of Dodge Uk and also the COE of Stratstone but to date have had no reply from Dodge and Stratstone I had a reply from the PA to the CEO who said he would look into it but as of yet no news.
The daft thing was I was looking at other dodge vehicles thinking of replacing this one at the beginning of next year but now I don’t think it will be a Dodge.
Please can you just let me know if this is as I’ve been told a common fault with this engine and why when I have dodge privelige I don’t get the service I’m sure you would expect yourselves.
