Baggage Claim Ref: 647127 I flew fr om Thailand – Bangkok to South Africa – OR Tambo Johannesburg on the 25 June 2018 via Abu Dhabi. I was on flights EY 407 and EY 604 to Johannesburg on the 25 June 2018. I arrived in Johannesburg and took a connecting flight to Durban. Due to my late arrival home, I only unpacked my luggage the following morning, 26 June 2018. I discovered that my suitcase was badly damaged. I immediately tried contacting Etihad Airways in South Africa but could not reach anyone. I then went online, wh ere I sent a complaint regarding my damaged suitcase. I have since submitted all the necessary documents and claim forms that Etihad Airways requested of me. The consultant at the baggage claims department seems to be changing the goalposts every time and now requires a picture of the suitcase with the tag that was placed at Bangkok. I did inform her that the tag was removed at Johannesburg in order for my suitcase to be checked onto my connecting flight but have provided a baggage check in reference number. One of the documents required was my boarding pass and the tag number which had to be submitted in order to trace and process my claim which I have submitted. It’s nearly 2 months that I have been trying to resolve this issue. Etihad Airways seems to be unethical in its approach to resolve my damaged baggage claim. Please can somebody assist as I am not getting any joy from junior officials at Etihad Airways baggage department.

I am absolutely appalled by the lack of service and most of all compassion shown by the employees of Etihad Airways at your Abu Dhabi airport.
On Sunday 25 June 2017 I and about 25 odd passengers were traveling from Jeddah Saudi Arabia to Johannesburg South Africa. We were delayed in Jeddah due to the baggage conveyor not working and also some late passengers. We then missed our connecting flight in Abu Dhabi to Johannesburg.
Yes, we understand these things happen. When we got to Abu Dhabi there were personnel waiting for us who told us there were no other flights out to SA on that day and next one available is on Monday 26th. We asked to be transferred to Dubai as there were flights and seats available to fly out on that day but were were just lied to and at times ignored. Remember this was the glorious day of Eid which were supposed to be spending with our families in SA. Instead we were given a meal voucher and told visas and a hotel will be arranged for us within 3 hours and we would be able to go out into the city until the next day.
The amazing thing is this never happened, we were stuck like prisoners in the airport for almost 24 hours. We were continuously lied to by the employees at the Terminal 3 transfer desk of that day shift. The night shift team came in and still no visas or hotel. Instead we were given blankets to sleep on the floor and this was after heaving to exchange some very hard words. As flights came in we were an embarrassment as we were sleeping on the floors, then only were we given excess to a lounge and not even a nice comfortable lounge. However, even after given lounge excess we were not allowed to sleep in the lounge. Now seriously we have been at Jeddah airport from 1am Sunday morning it was now 18 hours later , we were supposed to be home with our families but we were stuck in another country and we were expected NOT TO SLEEP??? Eventually at our OWN expense people booked into the Aerotel at the airport. How do you expect to maintain business if you treat passengers worst than animals???
Why were continuously lied to and not told from the beginning that due to Eid we will not be receiving visas on that day???
Why were not given at least a hotel room in the airport from as early as we landed???
How will we be compensated for this atrocious experience as we lost a special day with our families due to your lies and lack of compassion.
Good day,
I hope this email finds you well.
I would like to findout where can i get you recruitment email address in the Cape Town branch for call center agents.
I am currently working for Qantas airways.
Eager to here from you
Etihad is the worst Airline to book with. None of their telephone lines work and information is almost impossible to receive.
I need help with my visa, the online application does not accept my arrival and departure date. It says that i must book a max of 12 days before my arrival. This is impossibl as I am off to the UK and Paris before i reach Abu Dhabi.
do you have a number that I can phone in Johannesburg urgently or can you answer this question. A young friend is meant to be flying out of Johannesburg to Abu Dhabi tomorrow morning. His father, with the airways , is only collecting his visa in Abu Dhabi in the morning. Will he still be allowed on the plane as his visa will be waiting for him when he reaches his destination
Please I need to know if Etihad airways has an office or an agency in Ptetoria to book ticket.please let me know as soon as possible
I am battling to get my refund from Ethihad since December that I had to cancel my flight to Greece, due to my mother passing away after a sudden illness, two days before my departure. I booked my flight through Flight Centre in Krugersdorp, Gauteng and was initailly requested to provide her death certificate only as proof, in order to get my refund. About a month ago I was informed by Flight Centre that I needed additional proof to prove it was really my mother that passed away. Firstly it felt like I was being made out a liar? Would I miss the trip of a lifetime for nothing? MY MOTHER DIED! The additional info could have been requested on the 8th of December! This is outragous! After much searching I found my parents marriage certificate as well as my marriage certificate with my maiden name on it and sent it off 3 WEEKS ago. It is now almost 4 months! THis is unacceptable, totally unacceptable. For a 5 star airline, this service I have received up to now, doesnt say much. I will never book with Ethihad again. Quick to take my cash, slow to pay it back. And I cancelled my trip for something beyond my control. Your service has been VERY dissappointing, to say the least…….
Etihad has offered us voucher for our denied boarding and now that we want to use these voucher there stories haven’t come to an end.We were issued voucher at the airport but the compensation was not worth it so they then mailed back increasing the value to these voucher but now that we want to use these voucher of they deny this irrespective of showing them the proof in there mail. I would personally never use this airline again but because the voucher were offered I thought lets give a chance once again!
So this mean that they only gave me these vouchers be get us out of there way for there mistakes.
a very disappointing, dishonest airline to travel with!
I have had endless problems trying to get thru to anyone to sort out my complaints
the service is shocking
I booked a ticket on Etihad a long time ago to fly from Cape Town to Paris via Abu Dhabi. I received a text message from my travel agent informing my flight has been changed to Johannesburg departure. I do not live in Johannesburg and have no way to get there. I hae paid for my ticket in full. I hope you can assist me as a matter of urgency as this affects me, my husband and my fully paid up onward connections. I look forward to your response. My date of flight is 3 February 2012.
