My flight was on Dec 18, 2017 from Mumbai to Melbourne.
However, due to the death of my grandmother, I had to cancel the flight. I called the airlines and they routed me to speak with the travel agent with whom I book my flights (cced to the email) and mention abut the death clause which will helpme get a refund.
I was informed by my agent that I will get a refund after deduction of 300AUD since it was my grand mother who passed away, but my wife and daughter will not get any refund.
I wish to put forth my argument stating that my wife and my 2 year old are dependent on me. In times such as these when a family member dies, a wife will not leave the husband and go on a vacation alone with a 2 year old. I hope you can consider this. And also the fact that your customer representative on the phone mentioned to me to explicitly cite the death clause to get refunds for all.
I just want to sincerely request you, that in this times of emotional stress, I have also undergone a lot of financial crisis as well – cancelling flight and hotel bookings as well. I had worked hard for many months to take this vacation, which I had to cancel due to unfortunate circumstances.
As a gesture of your customer service, or humanitarian grounds or any possible grounds, I will sincerely appreciate it if I can get some refund on the tickets for my family members as well.
This was the first time I had booked with Etihad (even though the flight duration was longer than other airlines and I was flying in wrong direction resulting in longer time duration) due to a strong reference of a friend and a cousin. I hope I end with a good relation which will further propel me to fly with you always going forward. (I even enrolled for the frequent flyer program as well last week)
I hope this matter can be considered and given the due it deserves.

BEEN ONT HE PHONE FOR THE LAST 55 MINS. DUE TO CHANGE IN SYSTEM, ETIHAD FORGOT TO PROCESS MY REFUND. NOW IT WILL TAKE THEM 10 DAYS TO PUT THE CREDIT INTO MY CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT BY WHICH DATE THE DATE OF PAYMENT WOULD HAVE PASSED AND I WOULD HAVE INCURRED A HEAVY PENALTY. F OR ANY CHANGEIN BOOKING OR CANCELLATION THEY CHARGE HEAVILY, BUT FOR REFUNDS OR PENALTIES THAT WE HAVE TO UNDERGO DUE TO THEIR MISTAKE, THEY HESITATE TO MEET THOSE. WHY SHOULD I EVEN HAVE TO FOLLOW UP FOR A REFUND?
