About U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is a federal department created for the benefit of American veterans and their families. Formed in the year 1930, the VA is headquartered at Washington D.C. and employs more than 388,000. The VA health care system currently operates 152 hospitals, 800 community-based outpatient clinics, 126 nursing home care units and 35 domiciliaries. The VA administers benefits for medical care, payments for disability, pensions, insurance, educational assistance and vocational rehabilitation. The Department also offers burial and memorial services.

As America’s largest integrated health care system, the Veterans Health Administration serves some 9 mullion veterans each year. Those who served in the active military, naval or air service may qualify for VA health care benefits. You can complete an application online or do same over telephone. If you prefer to do it in person, then visit a nearest VA health care facility to complete the formalities. VA will determine your eligibility for enrollment before acceptance. Note that under certain conditions family members of Veterans are also eligible for health benefits. The various VA health benefits programs include Veterans Choice Program, VA Dental Insurance Program, Geriatrics and Extended Care, Home Health Care, Seamless Care and Veterans Transportation Program.

Register for the My HealtheVet Pharmacy to get medication, supplies, refill VA prescriptions, see VA prescription history or others. Other VA benefits include transition assistance, VA disability compensation for disabilities, diseases, or injuries incurred during active military service, assistance with education, home loans, life insurance, and pensions. Visit the eBenefits portal to see all applications for benefits or to manage same online. The Locations section on the VA website has address and contact details of hospitals, clinics, Vet centers, cemetery locations and regional benefits offices. For more information or queries on application, payment, insurance, pensions, or others, reach the US Dept of Veterans Affairs support.
