Problem after Problem unfortunately with Sleep Country Canada! I bought a Zoome mattress and a flat bed frame with headboard, I decided the next day I wouldn’t need the flat bed frame and headboard so I went in to the location in Nanaimo, BC. I paid for my purchase via E-transfer and was told that my refund will be mailed to me. Firstly the wrong mattress was Delivered and I’ve been getting the run around since July 23rd, 2022. Secondly I never did receive the refund I had coming to me, it was July 20th, 2022 the day after I paid for the bed, it is now August 13th, 2022 and I’m constantly on the phone with Sleep Country Canada with excuses and justifications for Sleep Country’s lack of concern. Sleep Country Canada in my opinion do not have any principle guidelines to ensure that their customers will be satisfied with their products or financial dealings.
Sleep Country’s customer service is very poor. Having said that the bed is compliant, they are not yet ready to find a solution to it. The mattress of Sleep Country has no quality.
Following a move in which a number of bedroom sets had gone missing I went to Sleep Country to enquire about a platform to match the headboard I had purchased. While I explained that it needed to support and/enhance the softness of the mattress I purchased from them prior to the move I did ask whether it would be soft enough given our preference. Unbeknownst to us despite asking very specific questions and trusting they in follow would not be deceitful in the sale given our clearly stated requirements coupled with our inability to view it prior to purchase. If we had been able to see that it was simply a piece of plywood without any springs let alone cushioning we would not have purchased it. Upon delivery it was 100% the platform delivered was not what we needed nor had communicated but as plywood is was hard as a rock. As it would not work for us, we called immediately for it to be picked up and returned. It was never slept on or used whatsoever. The store quickly called back with the salesman who had sold us the platform and said they would not allow its return only a credit stating I could return and buy $500 dollars worth pillows and sheets in its place. As I had no need to do so as I had purchased these from the company in recently years, he then informed us we would just have to suck it up as a complete loss.
I mentioned that was completely inappropriate and then asked if he was on commission. He informed me he was. He also informed me that it stated no refund was allowed. When I mentioned that he had not informed us of this prior to purchase nor was it listed on the sales receipt he mentioned it was included in a brand piece attached to the receipt at the back in small print. Given the arrogance and deceit we called consumer and corporate affairs Canada and have been informed that this violates not only best business practices in terms of ethical transparency afforded consumers in Canada but also violates key pieces of the legislation. What kind of a Canadian company endorses this kind of shenanigans, clearly not one that operates ethically or within the spirit of the legislation let alone the law. The fact that your employees are on commission should also be relayed to consumers as your sales employees have absolutely no incentive or motivation to take ownership of their manipulations and failure to inform consumers on returns let alone act appropriately in terms of product sales or the reputational management of Sleep Country itself and it’s business practices.
Bought a box spring encasement at Vancouver/Granville store and was told that once I open it, I cannot return it. Well, I had to open it and found out it did not fit…paid $88 for it, and no return. Besides that, I had to leave the store because they wouldn’t accept cash…a store that would not accept cash? ridiculous! One would think that after all the complaints from Sleep Country, customer service would smarten up. I did not use the encasement, folded it neatly and put it back in the bag. I am an older person with no money to waste.
We just received our bed today . Delivery was horrible . The one guy didn’t wear a mask . My wife had the dog on leash and he tried to refuse delivery . They were terrible . For 3300 dollars I expected another better
We are running into the same thing. Delivery was made to a nursing home of a twin XL base and mattress. The mattress was bigger than the base and totally unsafe for an elderly person. We called customer service yesterday and was told they had to check with their manager and get back to us. No response.
Today, called again was told same thing – check with manager and get back to us.
Called store where we purchased and was told the store does not have the authority to refund and to go through customer service. We have purchased from Sleep Country for years and no problems. Why such terrible service all of a sudden. We had to source another bed as client going into nursing home would not have had a bed. Shameful.
Re Woodstock customer # 5118022 We cancelled and order for product at Woodstock store. We paid $900.00 by Visa and $223.74 by Debit. We took nothing from the store, nor do we have anything that belongs to Sleep Country. There seems to be a lot of resistance regarding our refund. My research shows that Sleep country has a history of taking a very long time to refund cancelled orders which customer paid a substantial deposit.
