Seagate is terrible with their support. Virtually impossible to get in contact with an agent. Do not recommend them at all. I purchased a drive and I needed to use my warranty or data recovery insurance I purchased extra and I needed help with how to file it through Seagate.
USELESS.
Tried to recover data x3. Only bought the device in last year. Used for back up of photo’s ONCE and then it has just made noises and not connecting to any computer since.
Tried 4 times to start a return (has warranty until July 2019). The site crashes or the “I am not a robot” icon spins and then crashes.
Do not have more time to spend on this wish full refund asap please.
Happy to send the useless device back to you very disappointed in the device and the site.
Six years ago I bought the 1DXAP2-500 2 TB, hoping to safely store family pictures and my own essays and stories. I was not aware of the risk. When it stopped showing up on my desktop I ordered another plug, and still nothing. This seems an unthinkable disaster as I’m not a computer expert who knew to back up everything. 5TB hard drive failed. Was shocked to see the form you wanted me to fill out saying data retrieval would be either $600 or $700 flat fee.
I should have given you my credit card info. and moved on. My mistake.
I had maybe 40 gigs if that on the hard drive which was only a few months old. Hardly ever used it. So, I was in shocked for the data retrieval charge.
Knowing that I had 3 hours of film on it from a cruise we just took to Aruba, I decided, I better pay up.
Contacted you guys via email on the 25th of April asking what the charge would be, the $600 or the $700? Your flat fees for data retrieval.
I have all the emails, got one back saying that the person was out of the office the past two days and my data was wiped clean.
The 25th of April was a Wednesday, date of my email to you folks. My records show the hard drive didn’t get to you (shipper’s records) until the 27th. I’m sure someone could have made a phone call to your warehouse to retrieve the hard drive.
To be fair, that hard drive got to you later in the day on the 27th, correct? Sometime in the afternoon on the 25th you were notified that I was after the content. That I was now willing to pay up. If you were out of the office on the 26th and 27th (two days as per the email sent me) then why not was it taken care of on the 25th when I initially made the request?
What gets me is that on each of your emails to me it says:
“Please reply to this email if you require further assistance. We are available from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Central time, Monday โ Friday.”
That’s boloney!
What a loss. I had 3 hours of the cruise, Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao as well as video from our family celebrations.

Hi good day, I just made an RMA and then got the address where can I ship the unit but the receiver’s name does not included in the Shipping Address. Can I get the receiver’s name? I’m from the Philippines.
I attempted to install an external Seagate Backup Plus 4TB hard drive. However, it defaults to the Korean language and I could not locate instructions on the website or in the documentation to change it to English. The “start here” execution immediately defaults to the Korean language. Your U.S. contact phone support is not operational during my time zone in Korea. Any instructions to change to default to the English language would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I will return this product and choose another vendor.
Hi,I just made a claim in regards the warranty for my external harddrive. When I tried to print out the information for shipping, it stated there was a technical error and kicked me out of said page. How do I retrieve the forms that I need to send this broken harddrive back?
