About National Museum of Indonesia
National Museum of Indonesia is a popular tourist destination in Indonesia, opened in the year 1778. Locally known as Museum Nasional, the museum has historical, ethnological, and geographical collections. The museum in fact has a collection of 61,600 prehistoric and anthropological artifacts. The collections are grouped under Stone Sculpture Collection, Treasure Rooms, Ceramics Collection, Ethnography Collection, Bronze Collection, and Textile Collection.
The museum is also popular as Elephant Museum. It is called so for the bronze elephant sculpture place at the front park of the museum. On most days the museum is open from 8am to 4pm (closed on Mondays). Ticket rates for adults and kids vary.
