About MSRTC
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) began operations in the year 1948. It is the state public bus operator with daily ridership exceeding 7 million. Owned and operated by the Government of Maharashtra, MSRTC runs regular intercity and inter-state buses with fleet of more than 18,500 vehicles. They include Ordinary Bus, Hirkani Bus, Shivshahi, Shineri Bus, Ashwamedh Bus and Asiad Bus. Passengers can choose between AC, non-AC, semi-sleeper and luxury sleeper buses. Most of the buses come equipped with charging points, fan, reading lamp and recliner seats.
A large number of passengers board the buses at the bus depots operated by MSRTC across the state. You will find them at Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Palghar, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Solapur, Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Aurangabad, Nanded, Jalna, Amaravati, Akola, Buldhana, Nagpur, Bhandara, Chandrapur and Wardha. There are waiting rooms, restroom facility, and dining options at most of the MSRTC depots.
Passengers can see the routes, timings and schedule of buses on the official website. Some of the popular routes include Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Thane, Ahmednagar, Satara, Amravati, Nagpur, Shirdi, Kolhapur, Solapur, and Kalyan. MSRTC also operates buses that connect to neighboring states such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra, Karnataka and Goa. Tickets can be searched and booked directly on the MSRTC website or on third party websites like RedBus. Payment for tickets can be made using debit card, credit card and net banking. Do check the ongoing promotions on the website. There are also concessions and passes available for regular riders.
If you have booked a ticket via MSRTC, you will receive an SMS and email confirming the itinerary. You will need to carry a copy of same or show the SMS when boarding your bus. Passengers can login to their account online to view or manage their journey. Note that after confirmation of ticket, you cannot change date or time. You will need to cancel and re-book a ticket. If cancelled before 24 hours, passengers can get a refund of 90% of fare. If cancelled between 12-24 hours, you will receive 75% and for cancellations between 4-12 hours, MSRTC provides a refund of 50% of fare. The refund will be processed in the original mode of payment.
