About Guangzhou Metro
Guangzhou Metro began operations in the year 1997. It is a rapid transit system serving Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. Each day, the metro transports more than 6.7 million commuters. It has 9 lines connecting to 167 stations. Operated by Guangzhou Metro Corporation, the rapid transist system begins at 6am and ends at midnight.
The Guangzhou Metro lines consist of Line 1 (Xilang – Guangzhou East Railway Station), Line 2 (Guangzhou East Railway Station – Jiahe Wang Gang), Line 3 (Panyu Square – Airport South / Tianhe Coach Terminal), Line 4 (Jinzhou – Huangcun), Line 5 (Jiaokou – Wenchong), Line 6 (Xunfeng Wang – Changban), Line 8 (Fenghuang Xincun – Wanshengwei), Guangfo Line (Kuiqi Lu – Yangang) and Zhujiang APM line (Canton Tower – Linhexi). The Guangfo Line serves Guangzhou and Foshan.
As for fares, you have single journey tickets, three day and weekly passes. Frequent commuters can ask for the Yang Cheng Tong smartcard to store multiple fares. The smartcard has discounted fares and can also be used on buses and other forms of transport.
