About Freeform
Freeform, the Walt Disney owned television channel based in Burbank, California and known for airing youthful dramas and off network syndicated reruns of soaps such as The Middle, The Fosters etc, officially came into being on January 12, 2016. It is now coming up with more exclusive content and also experimenting with the idea of offering an uninterrupted viewing experience to its audience.
Last year, ABC Family Network, the parent channel of Freeform, stood out as the numero uno among women viewers in the age group of 14 to 34. Yet, the channel was still known for its wholesome family entertainment shows. That necessitated a rebranding of the channel from one that caters just to families to one that caters to the viewers in the aspirational age bracket of 14 to 34.
Notwithstanding the rebranding, the content has not changed much. In fact, it still continues to stream the shows that it used to as ABC Family Network such as a marathon run of Pretty Little Liars, the reruns of popular shows like Gilmore Girls, The Middle etc along with some movies that include Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Pitch etc. Along with all these it is still streaming multiple showings of Robertson’s religious talk show in The 700 Club.
Nevertheless, the network desires to ramp up its original production and is already featuring new series like Shadowhunters and a number of series that target the age group of 14 to 34 years. Shadowhunters resonates strongly with Buffy the Vampire Slayer which the ABC Family network used to air, but with one exception – the protagonists here are beautiful human-angel hybrids. Freeform aired 3 seasons of this series and stopped it in June, 2018. Though this particular series has not exactly been a chart buster, it did amass 1.82 million viewers. Other series like Grown-ish, Siren, Good trouble etc are running till their fourth or fifth seasons.
The rebranding also comes with some new features. You can now watch live shows, go through the genres of shows and movies in the home page, and also go through the time and title of shows in the Schedule section of the website. To watch shows and episodes live on the website, you will need to select your TV provider and login with the account. Popular TV providers listed include Cox, Dish, DirecTV, Spectruum, Mediacom, Xfinity and Optimum. For queries about programming, member services, and others you can browse the FAQ section of the page.
The new Freeform Nonstop beta version may well turn the tide in favour of Freeform. It is a new program designed to reward the loyal viewers of ABC Family Network with improved viewing experience. The reward is in the form of points that viewers can earn while watching Freeform TV shows. They can spend the accumulated points to watch the shows in Freeform nonstop. There would be minimal commercial interruptions. For more information or queries on schedule, live streaming, cancellation, advertising, career, or others, reach the Freeform support.
For at least 2 yrs continuously, almost nightly your station has played the tv series The Office. Please give the series a break. Disney has NUMEROUS shows- movies plus there are many other sitcoms. Please stop showing the series so often. (It’s really not that good) Thank you
I love your TV show Shadowhunters and you’re not creating it any more. I want to see what happens to Clary and Chase Magnus and Alec and Izzy and her boyfriend. I want to see what happens to the Wolfpack you’re depriving me of all the things that I love. I love most of your shows, please bring back the Shadowhunters. I truly truly want to see what happens to all of them.
