About Flying Blue
Flying Blue is the frequent flier programme of Air France and KLM. The programme allows fliers to earn miles every time they travel with Air France, KLM, SkyTEAM member airlines and Flying Blue partner airlines. Partner airlines that allows fliers to earn and redeem miles include Aircalin, Hop!, Kenya Airways, Tarom and Transavia. Besides flights, members can also earn miles while staying in a hotel or renting a car. It can also include shopping using select credit cards. If you dint know, fliers also earn miles while spending on extra options like upgrades or baggage allowance.
The miles earned by fliers depends on the tier status. Current tiers consist of Explorer, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The website shows the the number of miles earned on spending. Miles is calculated based on distance and the booking class. Those with sufficient miles can use same for booking flights, getting an upgrade or for a seat with more legroom.
If you want to donate or gift miles, you can do same. Flying Blue members can login to their account to view status of account, check number of miles accrued and other key information. All miles will be automatically credited to account after flight. If you dont see your miles credited, you can claim same from your account. You can submit ‘claim miles’ to provide details of your trip or purchase and get miles credited.
Fliers need to gain XP to gain status as Flying Blue member. The XP numbers depend on cabin class, which includes Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First. There are tools available for fliers to input origin and destination to calculate the XP earned.
