About Barbie
Barbie is the most popular fashion doll, manufactured by American multinational company, Mattel Inc. Barbie was officially launched in the March of 1959, by American businesswoman Ruth Handler. Ruth created the first Barbie using Bild Lilli, a German doll, as her inspiration. Barbara Millicent Roberts, nicknamed Barbie, is the figurehead for Mattel dolls and accessories. The fashion doll is in the market for over fifty years, which is a feat in itself, and the world has witnessed the evolution of Barbie, which kept on reinventing as time passed. With an estimated brand value of $372 million, Mattel’s Barbie generated a gross sales amount of US$1.6 billion in 2019. Barbie has been crowned with the Board of Directors’ Tribute by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, in an award ceremony held at the Brooklyn Museum.
With Barbie, Mattel has continued to let the legacy grow as the company pushed in to create an extensive appeal for more consumers. Starting with the original Barbie from 1959, the company has time and again designed and launched appealing pieces which have made it possible for the company to thrive, growth-wise. Day to Night Barbie, Western Barbie, Christie, Super Star Barbie, Black Ken, Golden Dreams Barbie, Ballerina Barbie- Cara, India Barbie, and Midge Hadley Barbie are some of the most talked-about dolls in the Barbie’s history. In 2016, Mattel introduced its ‘Fashionista Barbie’ line, which accommodates different skin tones and curvier body types. Currently hailed as one of the most diverse doll lines, Barbie has come a long way from being the impossibly thin blonde.
Right now, there are thirty-three different Barbies in the market. One of the prime factors for staying relevant in the market is the constant change and the fact that the company never let Barbie grow stale. Barbie comes with a full-fledged family, and the users can shop the variants in all the leading eCommerce and toy stores across the world. The official shopping website of Barbie lists all the items manufactured in the Barbie product line in categories. There are fashion dolls, career dolls, sisters & pets, Chelsea dolls, fantasy dolls, Ken dolls, signature dolls, doll clothes and closets. Each piece has got a listed price on the website. You can also check all the retail outlets that are currently stocking the piece that you are interested in. You can also click the ‘get it on sale’ option, to get a notification alert in your mail, when the price for the item drops. The website also facilitates the option of ‘find online’ which lets the customers know about the eCommerce portals currently listing the product for sale.
Customers can ask for refunds and return unless stated otherwise. If you want to return an item, it has to be returned along with the original box, packaging and the receipt of purchase. Shipping and processing fees on any item are non-refundable. The refunds are applied to the original payment method only.
My Daughter got the Barbie Barista set for Christmas. It came with a Curvy, Realistic Barbie. My daughter was ecstatic! She loves how Powerful Barbies legs are, not skinny like the normal ones. That her arms are shaped better to hold things, and look more natural!
My 9 year old is really happy to have a Barbie that looks like a real person :)
Thank you guys for moving in a new direction that my daughter can feel like she relates to more and inspires her!
Surely enjoying crocheting & knitting to a Barbie. I suggest you create a “ Knitting or Crochet Barbie Doll.”Children could benefit from learning the crafty hobby of crocheting or knitting, in a simple , simple format. Or just crate the crafty doll wearing her knitting or crochet clothing or accessories. This Barbie could pretend her Granny Barbie knitted or crocheted these items. This will also create a magnificent rapport with children & grandparents, just relating to items the new “ Knitting & Crochet Barbie,” wears. I loved sharing this idea. I am a retired teacher. Taught all grades, but I specifically spent more years as an Early Childhood Specialist. My interest comes with some history! Ha. I still own my old Barbie, that my parents bought for me me, with its case & all. If I had the money, I would like to have a “ Barbie Club.” Many children where I live don’t own a Barbie, or have the extravaganzas of owning any kind of different Barbies, with the different themes.
I just wanted to commend you on your Barbie Cuties. I collect Barbies and these are nice. You should make Halloween costume Barbie around Halloween to match the little girls costumes. You could probably be successful with that.
