I just wanted to share a very unfortunate experience at AMC theater in Aventura Florida. We drove all the way to the mall to see the 12:30 showing of Mario Brothers with my 7 year old and her Grandfather. We showed our ticket stubs on our phone, my father had trouble reading the seat number and asked the gentleman to tell us which seats we had. He answered that âit says it right there on the phoneâ with such an attitude as if we were bothering him by simply asking.
Upon entering the cinema, the theater was black, there was no lighting- so all the guests had to take out their phones to use their light in order to locate the seating. The movie started 20 minutes late. Several people got up to ask about the issue to which they got a âit should start soonâ response by staff. The previews were so loud that we all jumped from the level of volume during all the previews. It actually hurt our ears. We complained along with other guests, but again we were told âthat the previews are always louder and that the movie will not be as loudâ.
The theater was packed with little kids as it was a 12:30pm showing of a PG film. However, the previews were PG-13. The kids were very frightened by the images and intensity of the violence. Why on earth would you be showing previews that are not PG when the audience is 50% kids under 10 years old?
Finally, the movie started, the volume was still insanely loud. My daughter kept having to cover her ears, and I even broke out my earplugs. We left to get a refund 2 minutes in. I asked to speak to a manager and was told âthe managers are quite busyâ. I persisted and was met by a young man with the charisma of a clam. I expressed all of the above concerns. He asked me which previews were shown and explained that HE, a grown man, didnât find the marvel or DC previews to be scary. I didnât even get an apology. He is aware about the problem with the volume level but yet there was ânothing he could do about itâ and as for the previews âhe would look into itââĤgee THANKS!
