We booked tickets for 2 elderly parents to travel on the 25th March with flight no.GF2…from London to Bahrain then Dubai. My father had issues leaving so we had requested to change the flight. My mother had to leave without him. While we were going through the process of changing, they told us that there was a mix up…apparently according to the records, it was my father that left and my mother who missed the flight so that meant she traveled with his boarding pass! Considering this is a potential security risk, you would think that Gulf air would have panicked and tried to rectify the situation. Instead it took them 2 days and several phone calls to them to ‘investigate’. Meanwhile we had an elderly man left behind that could not change his flight. Really disappointed with their service.
On the 5th of April my husband and I were travelling from Channai Airport to Tibilisi in Georgia by GulfAir. The ground staff of GulfAir told us that we are not allowed to board the plane as we don’t have a departing ticket from Goergia. We told them that as Australian citizens we don’t need either visa or departing ticket – we can stay 365 days in Georgia without any visa. We talked to supervisor and explained that we have a valid credit card and are willing to write a statement about taking responsibilities. Everything to no avail. The member of the GulfAir took us to the Taj India Tours in Channai Airport. They issued a ticket but told us that I have to pay cash as apparently they credit card machine is not working. They charged us double the price for the ticket. When we landed in Georgia we checked the ticket – it was fake, no record of any booking. When we contacted the Taj India Tours they told us that they cancelled the ticket and took all $1029.29 as cancellation fee.
In my opinion it was a scam.
Don’t fly Gulf Air, terrible food, terrible customer service, they have bad movie selection too; and they are not even listed correctly!
With so many Amazing Middle Eastern Airlines why would anyone pick Gulf Air??
