About Khalifa International Stadium
Khalifa International Stadium is the largest sports arena in Doha, Qatar, opened in the year 1976. The stadium is owned by the Qatar Football Association and currently can seat about 48,000 people. Part of the Doha Sports City complex, the stadium has undergone several renovations as part of expansion. It was first built for the 1976 Gulf Cup, since then it has hosted the Asian Games, AFC Asian Cup and matches of the 2019 FIFA World Cup. It will be soon be hosting some of the 2022 FIFA World Cup matches as well. Khalifa International Stadium can be easily accessed by metro, bus and taxi. The Doha Metro Gold Line connects to the stadium. Fans will need to alight at the Sports City station to reach the venue. Those with their own vehicle can park at any nearest parking lot. There are more than 10,000 parking lots in the stadium’s vicinity.

Located 10kms from central Doha, Khalifa International Stadium has a four-star rating from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS). It has an impressive and futuristic stadium bowl shape and roof that provides shade. The stadium apparently is located within the Aspire Zone (Doha Sports City), which also is home to the Aspire Academy, an indoor multisport arena and a water sports complex. Aspire Academy is a national sports academy to find and help develop Qatari athletes. The Aspire Zone also hosts the tallest structure in Doha, the Torch Tower (also called Aspire Tower). Further, it holds the Aspire Dome that features 13 playing fields and an aquatic center. Entry to Aspire Zone is free and is open 24 hours, all days of the week.
