I am a former Travel Agent, both in SEA in the States and in HIJ here in Japan. My wife and I are going to be taking a roundtrip between SEA and YYC as well as a one way between SEA to SAN on an upcoming trip to the States in September. Our flights are booked on AS, because of our mileage program with DL. One thing that really bothers me is that AS charges even for the first checked bag. DL does not. Southwest, one of your big competitors, does not. AS should not. There is no valid excuse as to why AS is doing it. As has been true in the past, complimentary checking of at least one bag per person should be implemented immediately. AS, which has been known for good service, is not providing it with fees for baggage checkin, at least for the first check bag. Why is AS doing it even though DL and many other carriers are not? Sincerely, Gerald Walker
original confirmation was MJNBWY. today i tried to change a oneway flight to a different date. i was to be charged $75 if i did this online and $100 if a representative did this for me. i spoke with three different representatives and then to a supervisor named shay. we wanted to have the penalty charges waived because we were going to buy two additional flights at that time. shay informed us very rudely that “you bought these online and the information and the policies are clearly explained. you should have read them first.” the other three i spoke with were very nice and helpful. very down to earth. i was very polite to each including shay, who got on the phone with a horribly negative attitude. we were willing to spend more money with AA and d/t her attitude we paid a little more and went with a different airline for our return trip. i must say, however, AA still got $150 from us for changing the date…but we will never use AA even if its the lowest deal out there. furthermore, we will make sure our friends and family do not travel with your airline. i am surprised that in this economy you allow someone like shay to represent your company and allow her to be rude and nasty to your customers.
thanks for your time,
