Officially inaugurated in 2018, the Istanbul Airport is the primary airport serving the city of Istanbul, Turkey. Located in the Arnavutkoy district on the European end of Istanbul, it is the 13th-busiest airport in the world in terms of total passenger traffic. As of the current day, there is only a single terminal at Istanbul Airport, which serves both domestic and international flights. The airport has five runways and a total of five concourses, namely A, B, D, F, and G. The five concourses house a total of 143 passenger boarding bridges. Additionally, the airport has also deployed a total of 3,500 security personnel, and the active terminal building uses up to 9,000 CCTV cameras.
What are the Available Parking Options
The Istanbul Airport has a multi-story car park that has been built under a single roof. With a total capacity of 40,000 vehicles, there is support not only for vehicle parking but also for valet and car maintenance as well. Car maintenance services include car washing, tire replacement, auto hairdressing, mini maintenance, and refueling. There is also an authorised car shop inside the parking premises, so obtaining spare car parts will not be an issue.
The car parking infrastructure has been segregated into five different segments, namely Blue, Red, Yellow, Green/Purple, and Turquoise. Each segment has its parking availability status, which can be checked here. Passengers have the choice of opting for short-term or long-term parking facilities. Short-term parking includes parking ranging from 1 hour to 12 hours. However, if you are parking for more than 12 hours, then it will be classified as long-term parking.
Long-term parking includes not only a 12-24 hour parking time frame but also a parking subscription service where you purchase your parking slot for a limited period. The long-term parking subscription options include 4 days, 7 days, 15 days, and 30 days. Additionally, you can expect the same parking options for motorcycles, albeit at a lower price. The Istanbul Airport also offers a parking valet service. Pickups take place at Gate Number 3 of Green Car Park Floor P6 and the CIP Car Park.
Does the Airport Offer Online Parking Reservation?
Unfortunately, there is no support for online booking of vehicle parking slots or valet service at the Istanbul Airport. As a result, passengers have to rely on either manual or automatic payment systems when parking at the airport. The manual payment kiosk is located on Green Car Park Floor P3 or at the departures floor information desk. On the other hand, automatic payment machines are available on the Red, Yellow, Turquoise, and Green Car Park Floors.
You can also use mobile payment options to carry out your subscription procedures. However, do remember that when you are using mobile or automatic payment options, you have to make your transaction within 1 hour of your arrival inside the parking garage. Do remember that you have to exit from the parking lot within 30 minutes after paying your parking ticket because additional charges will be levied if the timer crosses 30 minutes. Additionally, if you use the Istanbul Airport mobile application for payments, then an extra 10 per cent discount will be provided. Veterans and handicapped people can park their vehicles free of charge at the Istanbul Airport for up to 15 days. Alternatively, official cars can use the car parking area for free for up to an hour. Lastly, do note that if you are parking in the open car park area, then the first 15 minutes of parking are free.
