Most of us are familiar with Uber. Uber, a sure-shot way of reaching your destination, minus the onus of parking and the hassle of a subway. Uber Technologies, commonly called Uber, offers many a bundle of services like food delivery and package delivery, but people know Uber primarily for its ride-hailing services. It is convenient, comparatively cheaper and has become a flag bearer of the sharing economy. In the second quarter of 2020, as many as fifty million people have used Uber each month. This number is comparatively lower because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, Uber is estimated to have more than 100 million active users throughout the world. In the United States, Uber is so popular that out of the 100 individuals who use rental cabs for locomotion, 67 users booked an Uber! This number is mind-boggling. However, as popular as it is, an Uber ride is not always pleasant. Sometimes, the factors that cause the unpleasantness are external and not in control of Uber, such as a long traffic jam. Other times, the discomfort may be because of the way your driver drove, spoke or behaved in general. Such instances, while cannot be helped with during their progression, action can be taken later on to ensure that the discomfort is not faced by others and/or compensation or refund, if the situation warrants, can be availed. Below are the ways through which an Uber user can register a complaint against his/her driver.

Finding help via Uber app
One of the simplest ways to reach out to the Uber customer care and report an incident is to leave a comment after you have rated your driver. Another way you can do the same is by going to the “Help” section of your Uber app. In this section, you can not only report your driver, but you can also sort out any issues with the payments. Another easy way to use the Uber application to report a driver is by locating your previous rides in the app, clicking on the ride and selecting “help” while viewing the ride. Not only can you ask to be never matched with the driver again, but you can also write additional comments describing the incident. The method will also help you to sort other issues such as problems with refunds and payments.

Reporting on the Uber website
Another way of reporting a more serious issue with the driver is by logging on to the official Uber help website. You can simply click on the Uber help tab, which gives access to customers to lodge a formal complaint. All you need to do is to describe the issue that you faced. You will be required to type in your e-mail ID and phone number so that Uber can reach out to you. In case of more serious issues, such as accidents or sexual misconducts, additional details, such as date of the incident, time of the incident, location and license plate number, will be required. Please note that Uber help can also be used to report less serious issues, such as a late pick-up, dangerous driving, as well. You will be able to do this by clicking on the “Trip issues and refunds” section of the website. A sub-section titled “My driver was unprofessional” will guide you through the rest of the process.
