About Vienna International Airport
Vienna Airport commenced commercial operations in the year 1954. The airport is the biggest airport in Austria. It has three terminals and is the main hub for Austrian Airlines. In 2010, the airport served over 19 million passengers. The airport, which is the busiest in Austria, is managed and operated by Flughafen Wien AG. As a matter of fact, Vienna Airport is the largest employer in the east of Austria. Vienna Airport offers passengers free wireless internet access in all areas.
Some of the major airlines operating from the airport include Adria Airways, Aer Lingus, Air France, Austrian Airlines, BMI, British Airways, Emirates, EgyptAir, EVA Air, Finnair, Iberia, KLM, Korean Air, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, TAP Portugal, Turkish Airlines, and Swiss Airlines.
Very bad experience with the personnel of the airport. I was coming from another flight were I have bye some things to the duty free. Vienna it was on transit, the goods were sigilated accordingly from the duty free were i have bye them. Once arrived in Vienna to the transit section, is need to pass again through the security check. They opened the sigilated plastic bag and throw it to the trash saying that this is what their boss ordered. They know it is nothing illegal and it has no logical sense or reason but this the order. Very very unpolite and arrogant women with blonde hair. Why they sell goods to the duty free and then do not allow you to take them with you in another country. Whoever was this boss giving this order only because their machines don’t work properly is their problem. I tell them they did a big mistake.
I had very bad experiences with the Bank that is issuing tax refunds at Vienna International Airport on April 4th 2015 at 9:00 in the morning. The person who was talking to us refused to issue the refund and was very rude. She refused to tell her name and name of her manager. There was a small issue that could be easy resolved but instead this person was ignoring us. Finally we got the name of her manger: Mag. Daniel Pajak CEO Interchange Austria. I’d like the management of the Airport to oversee this service since they are not working properly with clients and they are not wearing tags with their names. They do what they want and feel not responsible for their bad service. I left Austria without tax refund because of this bad service. I’d like to ask the Airport manager to find the person who did this bad service and to hold her responsible.

Vienna was lovely but tell me – as airport refreshments can you really afford to not have dietry requirements for strong allergic reactions?
Some Coeliacs are admitted to hospital for reactions to gluten and i was unable to get gluten free food at Vienna airport.
i was even laughed at and the lady said in Austrian that i had a “problem” ! and laughed to her colleague and would not help.
Noone could help tell me if soup or meals were gluten free! no gluten free bread was available and i was made to feel like an unwelcome customer. So the question is , will it take a major reaction on a flight to change practices or would it be better to keep up with world issues and offer for all…safety & comfort?
Regards and hopeful of change which elsewhere in the world is standard practice.
I have 4 hours wait at Vienna airport before my next flight to London. May I go into the city during this time?
Thanks for your reply in advance.
