About Zillow
Zillow is a real estate marketplace launched in 2006. Founded by Rich Barton and Lloyd Frink, the company is headquartered at Seattle, Washington. Zillow allows users to search properties, get an estimated home price, along with appraisal services. It helps in buying, selling, renting, financing as well as remodeling. The database includes more than 110 million homes in the US. The popular Zestimate tool provides estimated market value for an individual home. The estimate is calculated using current market conditions, location and special features. Users can claim their home on Zillow and update facts
On the Zillow website you can find homes for sale by city, state or ZIP code. States listed include California, Texas, New York, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Utah, New Jersey, Washington, Indiana, Arizona, Tennessee, Maryland, Minnesota, Colorado, Louisiana, Kentucky, Delaware, South Carolina and Oklahoma. Buying and renting of properties can be set by a range of parameters. You can filter results by price, year built, lot size, bed rooms, and home type (houses, apartments, condos, townhomes). On each listing, you will find the current rates, map, detailed descriptions, neighborhood and, facts and features. If you are a landlord or property manager, create free rental listings to find home seekers.
The agent finder tool on the website allows users to connect with real estate agents, property managers and home builders. Coming to mortgages, you can shop for mortgage lenders and get best rates. Zillow also has a number of mobile apps for browsing homes for sale or getting instant notifications. Most of the tools available on web are also incorporated within the apps. Listed my home fsbo, sold home and for last month i have been trying to get zillow to remove ad. I tried deleting listing only to get pop up msg that my account had been disabled for fraud. Yet they wont remove home. I get calls all day/ night long . No response from any zillow dept after multiple attempts.
We purchased a Zillow owned home and closed escrow on 10/19. We recently had a leak in the kitchen and called the home warranty only to find out that it was never paid for. Additionally, the HOA documents and transfer were never ordered. I remember asking multiple times regarding receiving our HOA documents during escrow, and they kept stating we would be receiving them “in the next week or so.” With everything going on, I forgot. I recently contacted the HOA regarding moving a wall in our front yard and was told, they didn’t have our information as owners. She also told us we are considered “delinquent,” since our Nov and Dec HOA bills were not paid (we never reviewed bills because they didn’t know ownership had changed!) In escrow, we paid our HOA 4 months in advance, so I am not even sure where our money went.
Story gets worse. So, Zillow bought the home from someone and then quickly turned around and sold it to us. The old owner happened to come to our home because her husband had accidentally sent a package to their old address (our new home) and she wanted to retrieve it. We got to talking and I asked her about the leaks. She stated she disclosed multiple leaks to Zillow. Our disclosures had no mention of any leak / plumbing issues. I am in the process of trying to retrieve the disclosures the old owner sent to Zillow. They’re making it difficult to get a copy, so I have to request a copy from the old owners.
Our realtor was also the seller agent (so he was doing both the selling and buying of the home). He was so shady, but we obviously didn’t realize this until now. When we made an offer, he told us to waive the termite contingency and after we complete the termite inspection, we’ll ask for a refund because the home will most likely need termite repair. Well, after our termite inspection, we included a repair request / reimbursement which was denied by Zillow because we “waived the termite contingency.” The agent was basically like, “yeah they are not going to give you money for that.” So we were basically SOL. The disclosures from zillow were given to us after we submitted our request form, and the disclosures showed a master balcony with so much termite damage that it was basically unsafe to stand on.
