Growing up, I always enjoyed the games between the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys for the obvious reasons a boy would. I’ve been reading about the upcoming name change, which I know is already in process, but am not fond of any of the names that have been proposed.
My thought is that the Washington Buckskins is a better fit than the other names under consideration. It retains part of the existing name while evoking the same frontier era. And as an aside, the buck (dollar bill) also has George Washington’s face on it.
I have been a Washington Fan since the early 70s. Even though, the WFT is making several positives in all the changes they are still making; It is heartbreaking to see the team do away with the Cheerleaders and suddenly have Co-Ed Dance Squad. What a way to find out the Cheerleaders had lost their jobs, on twitter of all places ?
I have been a Washington Redskins fan for life. I am so disappointed that the corporate sponsors are able to control our team name, etc. I feel that you should cut those sponsors and find others. I am so sorry that our Native Americans are having to live through this event. There are so many Native Americans that are fans of the Redskins. They do not have a problem with the word Redskins. It is a shame that this is happening. Unfortunately I feel that your company is going to feel this change more than was thought. I believe your sales are going to go down along with fans once the change is made. The major problem is you need to not forget who this team is for. Your fan is your customer. They should be treated #1.
Love the Redskins abs miss watching them very much. This will be my third year as I joined many in boycotting NFL football because of some allowing players to disrespect our flag, that so many many in my family served in wars to defend.
That being said, I am 100% pro law enforcement and 100% removing any of them who are racist, who have no business being officers. Racism is a horrible thing and must stop.
That being said, I urge you NOT to change the name from Washington Redskins. We must not change everything for a small group of people who may never be satisfied with whatever we do. American Indians seem to have no problem with the name. I am named “Katharine” after y precious Grandma, her mother, my aunt, and my granddaughter has my name now as well. People and teams are named after those held in high esteem.
Please don’t do this! I want to watch my Redskins again!
Thank you for listening.
If you change the REDSKIN Symbol that is full of Pride and given as a gift from Native Americans you can fully count on one fact, you will lose your fan base. Now, who has the control FedEx and Pepsi?
NO! The consumer does and we will not support this misinformed attempt of supporting a FALSE NARRATIVE! Still 90% of the Native American people support the Redskins. At the Pow Wows all the Native people wear the NFL Redskin Attire and take great pride in it. Keep the Name and Proud symbol of the Redskin!
Just a thought. Maybe involve the Native American community on their input to a name change that would allow Washington to retain the trademark emblem. Such as THE WASHINGTON WARRIORS. Could be a win win for us all. GO TEAM
I am so sick and tired of this political correctness this country has become
I think if your team has to change it’s name for political correctness then I would put a red potato on the helmets and uniforms and you can remain the WASHINGTON REDSKINS and everyone will be happy
By the way what about the political correctness concerning the
Chicago Black Hawks,Cleveland Indians,Atlanta Braves
Just a thought sincerely Mike Virchinsky
I have been a Redskins fan all my life even as kid for about 39 years this year have been the worst I have ever seen us as a organization.I just don’t understand how can u stand behind coaches starting with the head coach,I like our owner, but this year not the case there were a time he wouldn’t stand for this type of leadership, besides Bill Callahan head coach and defensive have to go why waste another year on these coaches when it is clear we are heading in the wrong direction.I am almost ready to give up on the team I never thought I would say this but changed need to come.
