About United States Navy
United States Navy is a branch of the United States Armed Forces. The naval warfare branch is one of the best in the world and boasts of 320,000 active duty personnel and 100,000 reserve personnel. Part of the U.S. Department of Defense, the United States Navy was formed in the year 1775. The Navy’s motto states “Semper Fortis” which means Always Courageous. It is today the largest navy in the world, with also the world’s largest carrier fleet. The United States Naval Academy is responsible for the commissioning of officers. The Chief of Naval Operations is the principal naval adviser to the President and to the Secretary of the Navy. And the Secretary of the Navy is the one who heads the Department of the Navy.
