About Israel Police
Israel Police is the chief law enforcement agency in Israel, formed in the year 1948 and operating from its headquarters at Kiryat HaMemshala. It has an active force of 35,000 and volunteers exceeding 70,000. Israel Police is governed by the Israeli Ministry of Public Security. The police force is primarily involved in providing security for all citizens, preventing crimes, checking terrorist activities, traffic enforcement, assisting victims and bringing guilty to justice.

There are six key divisions within the Israel Police. They consist of Policing, Security and Community; Investigations and Intelligence; Traffic; Planning and Organization; Support and Logistics; and Human Resources. Headed by a Commissioner, the police maintains staff at seven districts – Northern, Coastal, Central, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Southern, and Judea and Samaria.

Within the force is the Border Police which operates as a separate unit for patrolling and maintaining law and order at border areas. The Israel Police also has a specialized anti-terror unit called YAMAM. As for the ranks, while the Commissioner remains at the top, under him you have Deputy and Assistant Commissioners, Commander, Chief Superintendent, Superintendent, Chief Inspector, Inspector, Sub-Inspector, Sergeant Major, First Sergeant, Master Sergeant, Sergeant First Class, Staff Sergeant, Corporal and Constable.

To report a crime you can call the Israel Police helpline or visit nearest police station. If you are using the Internet, you can even access the online system where you can file a complaint. You can login to the online system any time to report crime or traffic accidents, check status of complaint, see who is handling the complaint and get information on suspects or offenders. The complaint file and information is made available within 24 hours of filing the complaint.

The Israel Police has a number of resources, forms and tools dealing with security and emergency. You can reach the Israel Police support any time to report crime, or any other emergency. For more information or queries on reporting crime, station locations, complaint status, traffic violations, or others, reach the Israel Police helpline.
