You need to urgently send a Management team to Protea Marriot PK Gate. It’s poorly managed, staffs are demotivated or something. Buffets and food is not good at all – it’s synthetic , tasteless and unacceptable. Why is tinned fruit served when you have local communities selling wonderful fresh produce. I am paying for a luxury room – old towels , clock with no batteries and price tag still on. Zero sanitiser anywhere. This is my 25th visit to PK Hotel and that meant nothing to staff.
No porter to help with luggage.
I would like to bring to your attention the absolute worst experience I’ve had with your resort The Ranch in Polokwane. From the phone conversation with the booking straight up until phoning to retrieve a forgotten item. Firstly the receptionist is very unfriendly then the guy that assisted me Lackson was extremely slow with the booking as well as sending through the quotation and confirmation email I had to phone 5 times in 4 hours after I told them it was urgent and him telling me every time he is doing it shortly. Then when phoning to retrieve the forgotten item the receptionist saw absolutely no urgency in assisting me and when I asked to speak to the manager Matau she was quite rude and it was clear my request was inconveniencing her.
I feel the main focus of a hotel reception desk should be customer service and your team there should never work with clients!
I stayed at the Protea Centurion from the 19 – 22 February 2020. My experience horrible to start of with from the fridge that never arrived, phone call to the bar that never answered, to room service that never arrived. We were also twice rudely reminded to check by knocking on our door, not once but twice! Here comes the really sad part….I complain and the Guest relation officer Sikhona Mali said she will look into it. I rang back a week later, to hear her superior has got a family crises! I rang back another week later only to be asked if the GM hasn’t called me? I had to give her all my details again. The GM promised to email me back with a solution. This was 10/3/2020, still no email or any contact for that matter. Your hotel has failed me miserably, poor slack service, hardly no communication. For all guests intending to stay at Protea, if you want spend your money here don’t expect much.
I stayed at Protea hotel Durbanville over period 27 February 2020 until 28 February 2020.
On checkout I forgot my iPad, which I was informed of via email. In my reply I informed the hotel that I would pick it up on Sunday 1 March 2020. However, upon my arrival nobody at the hotel seemed to know about it. This includes the duty manager Johan. They apparently could not get hold of the person responsible for lost and found and more than 45 minutes later they were still looking for it.
In addition, that is after I had to wait for about 10 minutes before I was assisted.
My wife and I took a weekend break to your Hilton Protea. 05-07-’19. Being foodies and having owned Restaurants, taught cooking and imported deli products, we really know our food. Along the route we lunched at Bellevue Cafe in Kloof. All we can say is that was fabulous. Onto the evening and your so called “fine dining” restaurant Ellingtons at the hotel. My wife wasn’t that hungry and started with a slow roasted tomato soup. It was so thick and salty, that it was sent back immediately. I ordered a battered fried hake & chips. It looked insipid and there was hardly any batter. The chips were ok. A real shocking dining experience. No ambiance, no fine dining. Invest in properly trained passionate chef and stop ripping off the public. We left the hotel in the morning and had a proper dining brunch at Jackie Cameron just down the road. I’ve been to Marriots in LA, Amsterdam and NY. Never had a bad meal. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth, forgive the pun.
I would like to book a room at Oliva Tambo international Air port Protea Hotel for one night on 6th August,2019 check -in and check-out 7th August 2019.
Your response on this matter will be highly appreciated
Kind regards
I had the pleasure of staying at Protea Kuramo in September for 5 days. I was unable to give a feedback through the email sent as I was pretty busy with work.
I did like to relay my experience starting with the ever courteous and helpful staff to the clean, tranquil and welcoming environment. Away from a normally busy Lagos norm hence my reason for the choice having stayed in Protea Emotan and Protea Kuramo in the past. It beats the reception provided by most other hotels I have tried in Nigeria. I will not like to mention names but I had attempted to book another hotel in Lagos during this trip for a change only to end up in Protea despite having been up from 06:00hrs and arrived at the X hotel at 23:00hrs. I was going to have my money’s worth even if I had to drag myself to Protea for a guaranteed comfort. Well done Protea, serenity delivered as usual.
I however have a few criticism which starts with the rooms which needs to be assessed for broken/malfunctioning light bulbs and have carpets dry before replacing them in rooms when they are cleaned. Both of which was my experience, I had stayed in the room with a damp smell for days, struggling to identify the cause before I realised it was coming from the damp carpet. It will also be nice if the shower next to the pool is cleaned, was smelling of urine when I wanted to shower after swimming, sad face emoji.
I was rather not thrilled with the food, it left a lot to be desired. From the very dry meat often a chore to chew, to the not so fresh stew and rice. I asked for just ripe fried plantain as part of my order, I was served over ripe plantain and remember an evening I was determined to get it right but resigned in frustration after being served same thing having refused it 3 times in same evening. Perhaps I was meant to have forgotten what I really wanted when next it arrived, it felt like “groundhog day” comedy trial. I sadly went to bed hungry 3 out of the 5 nights I stayed there. It then explained the reason for the notice I saw at the entrance gate advising people not to bring in food. A waste of money it was to me.
People will not be bring in food if the food in the hotel food was anything worth having, considering the food outside the hotel is not much cheaper with the added disadvantage of paying for delivery against eating in the comfort of your hotel/room.
The intention of writing the feedback will be missed if the end result is just to have staff fired without first offering enhanced training and support.
Lastly I wonder why Protea and other hotels in Nigeria located along the sea shores have not propositioned the government to be allowed private ownership to the beech behind then like most others elsewhere. I believe this will help in the maintenance of the beech and serve as an added attraction to visitors.
