Aboutย Royal Oman Police
Oman Police, officially known as the Royal Oman Police (ROP), is the chief agency responsible for maintaining law and order in the Sultanate of Oman. Formed in the year 1974, the agency is headquartered in Qurum, with regional headquarters at Dhofar, Musandam, Al Batinah, Al Dahirah, Al Dakiliyah, Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Seeb – Muscat. The sultan serves as the Supreme Commander of ROP and under him is the Inspector General of Police and Customs. The day to day operations are managed through the various divisions headed by Directorate General, the specialized directorates and the specialised divisions. The Directorate Generals include DG of Customs, DG of Transport, DG of Prisons, DG of Operations, DG of IT, among others. The DG of Traffic is responsible for the smooth flow of traffic and checking traffic-related incidents. The Directorate Generale of Passport and Residences is responsible for everything to do with visas, immigration and passports of residents.
