About New Mexico Medicaid
Like other US states, New Mexico has its own Medicaid program called Centennial Care. The health insurance plans are managed by the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange. The Health Insurance Marketplace is for individuals and families who are not eligible for Medicaid.
In 2013, the state government created the Exchange to provide affordable health care coverage to those in dire need. The beWellnm marketplace allows New Mexico residents to shop for the right health insurance. Those who were previously enrolled in a New Mexico Medicaid program are eligible for Centennial Care.
Those enrolled in the Medicaid program can log in to check eligibility for family, change the managed care plan, request a replacement medicaid identification card, or others.
The programs are managed and run by the Human Services Department (HSD). The eligibility to most programs are based on a family’s household income. Those who are eligible for Medicaid in New Mexico will receive free doctor visits, preventive care, hospital care, emergency department and urgent care, specialist visits, behavioral health care, substance abuse treatment, prescriptions, and more
Those looking to apply for Medicaid must have valid identity and citizenship documents such as US Passport, Birth Certificate, Driver’s License, among others. Also check the federal poverty guidelines to see if you are eligible. You can apply on the website here. For more information or queries on new applications, provider network, benefits, or others, reach the customer service via phone or email.
