About NASCAR
Among one of the most exhilarating sports in America today, is NASCAR, short for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. It is a Florida based automobile racing company founded in 1948, that sanctions and operates auto racing. NASCAR gets the pulses racing and thousands of racing enthusiasts join in the excitement every week.

NASCAR conducts and monitors many types of automobile racing competitions across the US. Most noted among the races are the Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series and the Camping World Truck series. The Sprint Cup series is the most well-known of the lot.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup cars are built to specification for the race on the chassis of four door American cars such as Chevrolet Impala, Dodge Charger, Ford Fusion, and the Toyota Camry. Contrary to the low lying futuristic silhouettes of the Formula One racing cars, NASCAR Sprint Cup cars have a compulsory fender so as to minimize damage when there is contact between two cars. It also has almost double the horsepower as that of a regular car.

The race tracks are mostly oval shaped or D shaped tracks, a few are road races too. NASCAR Sprint Cup has 36 races on 22 race tracks in various locations. Size of the tracks vary from huge – Talladega Superspeedway with a length of 2.66 miles to tiny – Martinsville Speedway measuring just .526 miles. Some of the all time best players in the past include Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, David Pearson, Jimmie Johnson, Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison, Darrell Waltrip, and Tony Stewart.

Starting with Daytona 500, which is the biggest Sprint Cup race, the excitement continues with Brickyard 400, the August Race and the Memorial Day Weekend Coca- Cola race. Whatever the size of the race, the same number of points go towards each one. Some of the biggest names in car racing participate in the NASCAR races adding to the attraction. The race provides an assault on the senses and the screech of tires, the cheering of fans as the cars zoom past in a blaze of dust and heat contribute to the thrill of a global adventure sport.

Latest additions to the NASCAR races are Monster Energy, featuring freestyle motor exhibitions, the Monster Girls and the Ball of Steel; Thrilling Racing including stage racing; and Global Reach races which now extend their reach to Mexico and many European countries and International circuits.
