About Lulu
Lulu is a popular self-publishing platform launched in 2002 by entrepreneur Bob Young. The print on demand and e-book publishing company operates from its headquarters at Morrisville, North Carolina. Authors who are looking to publish their works without much hassles can use Lulu to publish paperbacks, hardcovers and e-books with the click of a mouse. You can get help for design and publishing or do it yourself from scratch. While authors can print and sell their books online, educators can easily publish textbooks and course materials. Artists and nonprofit organisations can create a photobook and calendar as well.
To begin, you can choose whether you looking for a print book or ebook. When choosing print book, you are shown a number of options such as standard paperback, premium paperback or professional hardcover. Authors not only can choose their book size, paper and binding, but also can upload formatted book file, choose title, edit content and much more. You can choose coil bound or saddle stitch paperback, and black & white or full-color interior print. There is a minimum quantity for all orders. The cost per unit comes down on larger orders. Volume discounts are available for premium paperbacks, hardcovers, photobooks and calendars.
Ebook creators can download the creator guide for instructions on style-based formatting, manuscript editing, font and conversion of manuscript files to an ebook in EPUB format. There is no cost to use the free tools to convert or publish ebooks. If you are short on time, you can get professional support for help with cover design, layout design, and formatting. To start selling, you can select a distribution-eligible print book format, apply an ISBN and format your manuscript to meet distribution guidelines. You can then set your price and select the sites where you want to retail. You can sell on Lulu, Amazon, Ingram or Barnes & Noble. The base price and distribution fees are mentioned on the website.
Lulu also has a Shop section where you can purchase books by genre or bestseller. Popular genres listed include Fiction, Arts, Business, Children, Computers, Games, Humor, Law, Medicine, Religion and Travel. Lulu accepts major credit and debit cards as well as PayPal. You can track status of order by signing into your Lulu account. The delivery time varies according to shipping method. For complaints or queries on payment, cancellation, refund, career, or others, reach the Lulu support.
I am having a hard time trying to figure out why it is that you cannot call customer service, chat, or I have to wait for an agent to contact me hours, days, weeks later. I have a book with LULU but it seems that I am cut off all at the same time. Honestly, I am irritated and have second thoughts on the service at this point. Not complaining about the service, just complaining about how to get the service is the problem.
Hi
Why isn’t your live chat always available – quite annoying when I am in the middle of trying to get help with printing a book? I normally go to ‘help centre’ and it is there at the bottom – but not it seems when I need it most
