About King Fahad’s Fountain
King Fahd’s Fountain is one of the tallest water fountains in the world and is located at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Also known as Jeddah’s Fountain, the tourist landmark is located on the coast of the Red Sea and boasts a reach of over 1,000 feet. Established in the year 1985, the fountain is managed by the City of Jeddah. It was donated by the late King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz.
Standing taller than the Eiffel Tower, the fountain is found listed in the Guinness Records. It’s design and inspiration follows the Jet d’Eau fountain in Geneva, Switzerland. As it uses sea water, the fountain is prone to cracks and other threats. The water hence passes through a series of pumps to filter sand, soil and other particles that can cause corrosion.
